Police are searching for the person who set ballot boxes on fire in Washington and Oregon. Here’s what we know

CNN — With just days until Election Day, hundreds of ballots were destroyed or damaged by fires set this week at two ballot drop boxes in the Pacific Northwest – and investigators are searching for a person they believe is responsible for both.

Many of the ballots in a drop box fire in Portland, Oregon, were unaffected, but hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed in a second fire in nearby Vancouver, Washington, election officials said. The incidents are believed to be connected to a third fire on October 8, also in Vancouver.

The fires came after a US Department of Homeland Security bulletin from September which was obtained by the watchdog group Property of the People warned: “Some social media users are discussing and encouraging various methods of sabotaging ballot drop boxes and avoiding detection, likely heightening the potential for targeting of this election infrastructure through the 2024 election cycle.”

Given that it is the MAGA/GQP that is pursuing a voter suppression/voter nullification strategy with a dose of "the election is rigged" meme thrown in, if I had to guess between a leftist or a MAGA, I would guess a MAGA who may be an operative paid to perpetuate the GQP accusation that the election will be tainted should Trump lose.

I was watching a report about stolen yard signs the other day.

Comparing the responses from both sides.

A maga supporter had his yard signs stolen. He replaced them and embedded razors and put a white powder on the signs. Which he's been arrested for.

A Harris supporter had his yard signs stolen. He replaced them and put Vaseline and glitter around the edge.

So, I have my suspension as to which party member was more likely to burn ballot boxes.

I hadn't heard that an arrest was made. Last I saw (this morning), they were still looking for the person.
