I know... it's shocking!

Edit: on some level I want him to win, but that's only because:

  • I'm extremely confident that we will safely get through another Trump term and want others to see the same
  • It will begin the process of him going away, so the Republican party can begin returning to sanity.....and hopefully a little smarter
  • I think it would cause the Democratic Party to take a good, long look in the mirror to figure out where is the disconnect.
But I just can't vote for someone that horrible.

lololol. Oh, Taco, I don’t think any of us here believe it’s simply “on some level.”

Obviously. There isn't much political gray area permitted 'round these parts. If it weren't illegal, I would gladly post a pic of my ballot showing my vote for Chase Oliver.

You said you didn't vote for Hillary in 2016. Who did you vote for?

Lol. There's tons of political gray area permitted 'round these parts. How else do you think someone like me can vote for Trump in 2016, spend the first year or two of his presidency shrugging off the batshittery, then finally seeing the light and switching teams, and still be treated well here? I also vehemently disagreed with virtually the entire board about whether Joe Biden should step aside.

I didn't say that I think that you voted for Trump. I said that I don't think anyone around here believes you when you say "on some level, I'd like to see him win." I think most of us believe that on *most* levels, you want to see him win. Why not just own it?

I'm shocked that you voted for Trump.

On most levels, and as a wakeup call for the two primary political parties, I'd like to see Chase Oliver or anyone not named Kamala/Trump win. The level below that, however it's labeled, is Trump.

You're shocked that someone can come to the realization, through being open to learning and being educated/educating themselves, that their previous political viewpoints were bullshit?

You want to known how deeply unserious a vote for Chase Oliver is? I have literally never heard of him, and had to Google his name when you said it earlier, and I'm someone who is an obsessive political hobbyist. Your vote is even more ridiculously absurd- and way less respectable- than someone voting for Trump. At least someone voting for Trump isn't pussyfooting around. In our current two-party political system, your "protest vote" or "third party vote" or whatever the hell you want to call it, is the most mind-numbingly stupid and immature voting choice you could possibly make. Congratulations!

I'm not surprised that a dramatic change in political viewpoints can happen, just that it happened, I assume, fairly late in life. I don't know how old you are, but I've been posting on the old Scout.com sites since the 90's and I bet you have also and I'm almost 50 years old.

Everyone has a reason for who they vote for. Some people vote based on a single issue. Some vote for their party regardless of the candidate. Some vote out of fear. Registering as an Independent happened when I realized that fiscal responsibility was unimportant to nearly the entirety of both parties. (Rand Paul for President!) Actually voting 3rd party started in 2016 when both parties made it clear that nominating quality people and candidates was unimportant to them. IMO, nothing has changed since then. You call it immature. I call it having expectations and standards.

I hear you. I appreciate you explaining your perspective. Obviously I don't agree with it, but I appreciate your willingness to explain it. There's at least sincere conviction behind it, as far as I can tell.

I'm approaching mid-30's.

Oh really? 1968 and 2000 would like to have a word with you.

Him loosing will begin the process of him going away much quicker.

If elected and then he resigns or has to leave for other reasons, were stuck with JD and his warped opinions.

Either way, the democratic party needs to take a good long look at their struggles and both parties need to take a realistic look at where we are as a country.

As for your confidence, I don't have any confidence that the US would survive another trump presidency.

Police released a picture of the suspect's car. It looked like a Volvo, which would lead me to believe that it's probably not a Trump supporter. No true 'murican is going to drive a Volvo!

This came out a couple days ago. I'm back to leaning "Trump supporter":

Investigators believe the man who set the incendiary devices at ballot boxes in Portland, Oregon, and nearby Vancouver, Washington, had a "wealth of experience" in metal fabrication and welding, said Portland Police Bureau spokesperson Mike Benner.

The way the devices were constructed and the way they were attached to the metal drop boxes showed that expertise, Benner said.

While, as a redneck by birth and and a blue collar worker by trade, I resent the stereotype but firmly support your conclusion.

So, in 2018, you were about 26-28 years old at the time you decided Trump and the GOP are FOS.

About the time your brain fully developed.
