Well, shit

I test positive for covid yesterday evening. First time I have ever tested positive - probably over 700 tests.
Symptoms suck. Tired, out of it, and the worst sore throat I can ever remember.
Dang I don't want to hear that as I woke up this morning with a cough and haven't taken a test but like the song says "I'm not feeling to good myself right now"! Hopefully you can get the pills and knock it out in 3 days or so. I'm going to take a test tomorrow if the Emergen C doesn't work.

I’ve had it 2 or 3 times, the first couple were not great, bad sore throat and the aches sucked. But we don’t even other testing anymore, the 3rd time I had it it was no different than a mild cold.

I've been pretty vigilant about getting regular Covid vaccinations. But I still caught it once. June 2021. My wife caught it while getting her hair styled for an out-of-town wedding we were going to attend. It hit her hard. And we started sleeping in separate bedrooms. But I still had Covid for one night. And that night I sweated through four t-shirts. But after that I was OK. We cancelled our plans to go to the wedding. At the wedding, both the bride, groom, all attendants, and both parents of both the bride and groom all caught Covid. If I had decided that we were all well and had gone to the wedding, then I would have gone to my grave thinking I was the infected rat who ruined my niece's wedding.

700 tests? Geez. Worry much?
If you ever get shit on this board for a lack of empathy, I want you to come back to this post.

Your first response was not sympathy or kindness. It was to denigrate something that you didn't understand. Ever consider he might be a healthcare worker or someone who deals with at risk populations? Or did you just unilaterally decide he was weird and anxious?

You earn your reputation on this board in many ways. Be better.

We've all had COVID so cut out the drama. I'm generally curious why someone would have 700 COVID tests. If it turns out the OP is a healthcare worker then I'm sure he'll let me know and I'll apologize.

It's a MAGA feature, not a bug.

Or you could just be a generally better, more empathetic human being to start with and not get called out.

It would cost you literally nothing.

Stay hydrated. Amazed you have been able to dodge it this long. At least this means you should be good for at least 6 months once you recover.

I have had it 4 times now. Perks of working with sick people every day. Had all the vaccines and get a booster each fall. Have been blessed to have gotten away with minor symptoms each time…low grade fever and a sore throat for a couple of days.

With few exceptions, it seems that once one reaches a special echelon of wealth they escape the gravity of our existence. They just float off into another universe. Can't believe that even a creep like Elonia Musk would say "empathy is a fundamental weakness of western civilization".

When Elon said that empathy is a fundamental weakness of western civilization, that was a direct look at how those people think. The care and well-being of others is not a motivating factor for them.
I think Elon gives a direct look into Elon and not much more. You're right that the care and well-being of out-group others is not a motivating factor. I don't know that they think in civilizational terms.

I'm not shocked at all that he feels this way... I'd guess most members of the billionaire club feel this way. What's scary is that an owner of a major MNC was willing to say it out loud publicly...

Hope you feel better soon! If you've been getting the vaccines, chances are you should get a mild version, even though you have not had it yet. Fingers crossed for you... it can still be a doozy. Stay hydrated and get the pills if you can.
