WH Correspondent’s Dinner - Trump evacuated, shooter in lobby

I don't even see how security could have been much better. He was stopped at the security checkpoint, subdued and disarmed without being killing, and I believe this was all on a different floor than the entrance to the dinner. What else is there to do? Keep POTUS from going to events? Move the security checkpoint outside so this happens slightly farther away?

On a side note, it’s so nice to hear a professional, Todd Blanche, talk about this and not Pam Bondi.
Yeah, I did notice that he was much more professional in his Sunday appearances discussing the event than Bondi would have been.

That said, he is behaving unprofessionally in other important ways. But at least he sounded competent today.

The event needn’t have been staged to be exploited politically.
The problem for the Trump administration, though, is that all of the below are true simultaneously:

“The President is so loathsome that he would conceivably stage multiple assassination attempts to boost his popularity.”

AND

“The President is so loathsome that multiple people would genuinely attempt to murder him.”

AND

“The president and his administration are so loathsome that they lie about quite literally everything, large and small, significant and insignificant, such that it is impossible to know when to believe them or to give them the benefit of the doubt.”

They’ve boxed themselves into a corner on this one. The only people who are not viewing this whole thing with a discerning side eye, at a bare minimum, are the very people for whom it would help Trump the least – because they are already 100% supportive of him no matter what. If they really want one of these supposed assassination attempts to legitimately boost him politically, they are going to have to learn to not be so cartoonishly weird in the immediate aftermath, every single time. It strains credibility, to say the least.

Trump has a pattern of accusing his political adversaries of conduct that he is about to engage in, so incase of exposure his followers can both side his actions. And he just accused the SPLC of funding false flag ops. people are wise to be skeptical, What's sad is that we even have to worry about this being the case with this administration.

The guy was allowed to check into the hotel where the president would be speaking with multiple weapons, no additional screening of any hotel guests.

He was able to go from 10th floor down to the event with a long gun and was not stopped before then.

A more seriously planned attack would have stood a very good chance of seeing several (likely famous) people killed.

This shit all went down right by Wolf Blitzer, so it was certainly closer to the target than the above description

I get that family history with assassins and ballrooms may be at play here, but RFK Jr. seems unaware that his wife is sort of fending for herself behind him. Even a CHUD like Stephen Miller was shielding his (very pregnant) wife.
