1. Throw them away.
2. Give them to Goodwill.
3. Give/Trade for Credit to a used book store.
4. Keep them as they will be immensely valuable once St. Donald of Mar-a-Lago drives the US back into the New Stone Age.
5. Box them up and mail them to someone even dumber than I am.

Any ideas?

I am ashamed to admit this, but I even have a lot of videocassets. At one point my wife wanted to get all the classic Disney cartoons movies on VHS. Same question for my VHS tapes.

While my wife would never agree, I think I would have no problems getting rid of our LP's. I really want to do so before people figure out vinyl really isn't all that cool. Our CD's are worthless.

It's the same question I have asked myself. I have leaned towards converting them into digital files, but the vast majority of them are probably available on streaming for free already.

What i will probably do is digitize 10 or so that are personal favorites so they'll be available anytime. More than likely, I'll still have the same collection in 10 years.

I think some of the Disney ones might have some kind of code inside the box, that lets you view them on iTunes or maybe Disney's own version. The idea was that you own them so you could pull them off the cloud.

We never bothered because we had DVD players in the car but I think we're sitting on about 6 tons of DVDs for this very reason with the idea that someday we won't have to rebuy them for the grandkids. Typing it out seems absolutely retarded so I'm probably going to throw them away ASAP and not tell the wife.

I would keep them. Digital copies that you purchase aren't really yours- should the digital service you "acquired" them from lose the rights to the media or simply decide not to stream them, your "purchase" is worthless.

I ripped mine (DVDs) to an external storage drive (SSD for reliability) using Handbrake (free software) and sold them all on Offer Up.

Same with my CD collection.

I converted all my HS football games from super 8 to DVD and even made a highlights list of all my best hits. Roughly half would be targeting in today's world. I usually watch them to make myself feel better when the Heels basketball seasons end prematurely.

How is Handbrake still around as free software??

I used that to rip DVDs like 15 years ago.

I don't know, but it is. I double checked just now, because I haven't used it in about 5 years, and it's still showing as free.

Where y’all live? I might take ‘em off your hands for you.
Charlotte. If you are married, I will need a notarized statement from your wife stating that she has been married to you long enough that she has accepted that this sort of thing is just who you are.

I'm not married. But I don't think DVDs played a role in the end of my marriage. 🤷‍♂️
