What's happening in your neighborhood?

About three years ago we had to cornish hen roaming our community. Last year that number went up to four. Today I saw the four, plus about 8 new chicks.

Aren't they some sort of delicacy or is it just the English accent?
It's a Cornish accent, which is a bit like the Welsh accent. Brythonic Celtic. And equally tasty.

Cornish game hens, as sold in American stores, are just small roasting chickens.

Nothing rare about them. Not a delicacy. A way to overcharge for chicken.
But Cornish hen sounds so much richer than chicken, that has to be worth something.

You might want to watch out for a sternly worded letter from tCHS.

On purpose??!!
maybe not on purpose but negligence and carelessness are definitely factors. last year some people from VA hit a horse with their UTV then fled the scene and lied about it. luckily there was a witness. the horse had to be euthanized.

the horses often somehow get tangled up in man-made objects which is always a bit suspicious, too. last week one had a step ladder hanging from its neck. the wild horse fund folks got it off and the horse was uninjured, luckily.

Well, I hate to see any wild animals harmed either on purpose or thru human neglect, and I certainly don't condone what the girl did, but I'll confess I found myself somewhat frequently near wild horses (and sheep) on Shackleford back in the day. Not that I was seeking them out or approaching them, but we used to go out there pretty frequently in my younger (much younger) days and they'd usually be in the vicinity. I didn't go out of my way to get near them, but I didn't necessarily try to avoid them either. We were doing our thing and they were doing theirs. I kinda doubt there were any laws against approaching them back then, but again, I don't really recall approaching them anyway...

yeah, certainly not everyone who finds themselves in close proximity to wild horses is doing something wrong. but i do think that the current laws that mandate that people give them a lot of space, i believe its 50 feet, are reasonable and necessary in this day and age.

best for everyone's safety, not just the horses. someone gets trampled and that's a whole mess, too. like that woman who nearly got gored by a bull on the beach in cabo last year.
