Which could you do?

I wrote out like 3 paragraphs and then deleted them because there’s just too many factors that go into this.

You have to accept the premise that it’s during a real game and not think about what if this happened.

A team could design a three point play or a running/pass play where maybe you get the chance to make a 3 or gain a yard by confusing the defense. Most people have a realistic shot at making a 3 on an empty floor or running a yard with a ball or catching a ball and going a yard with no defenders. That’s something most everyone can do inherently.

You do not have a chance at hitting an MLB level pitcher.

3 pointer if unguarded. That would be my only chance.

For most humans hitting a baseball traveling over 75 mph, especially if curving is an impossible task.

NFL - unless you can squat 400-500 lbs and can run a well under 5 sec 40 yd sprint it would be the last thing you'd do.

In theory, gaining a yard seems the most likely. However, I think I would only get one shot added. I don't foresee myself getting hit by a 260 lb linebacker or 320 lb lineman and then getting up to try again.

I could play in hours of NBA games until I finally hit a three-pointer, which I know that I could.

If you gave me 500 swings at an MLB pitch, I don't think I would get within 6 in of the ball.

Of course it all depends. Of those three, I think gaining a yard as long as I had good blocking is the most attainable.

NBA three-pointers are pretty far out. Even shooting unguarded in an open gym, I’d be lucky to hit 1 out of 10. Obviously it would be nearly impossible in a game, but if I got enough wide open looks, maybe I could knock one down. That said, if I were given enough time in a game to have an opportunity to get an open look, fatigue will have fully set in at that point and I would probably shoot the worst airball ever.

Hitting a pitch from an MLB pitcher is virtually impossible if you’re not good enough to be a professional baseball player. So that’s not happening absent pure, random luck.

1. I couldn't hit a three in a back-yard game when I was a teenager.
2. I have actually, as a joke during the off-season, tried to get a hit off a minor league pitcher. Once that ball left the pitcher's hand, the next thing I sensed was the sound of the ball hitting the catcher's glove. It was like magic. I actually thought about asking for a do-over with a ball that I had signed so I would know they weren't just faking it.
3. The brain damage I suffered in playing four years of football in high school is quite enough. I'm not going to go all Oliver Twist and say, "Please, sir, I want some more." I don't care how much money was offered, it wouldn't be enough to compensate me for the loss of whatever brain function I have left.

I think I could get a yd in an NFL game but it would be unpleasant.

I don't think most of us could get the three pointer unless it was in warm-ups. They would out athlete you and take the ball from you before you could shoot.

I doubt most of us could even stand in the box with major league pitching. Scary. No one has a chance of hitting it.

You have a chance to hit it. Just place the bat in bunt position and hope it makes contact. Maybe just a 1% chance but it is at least possible. If you are too scared to stand in the box just close your eyes.

I’m pretty sure I could hit a 3 if no one (in the NBA) is guarding me. The other 2- not a chance.

So, are you only in the game for one possession (NBA), one down (NFL), or one at-bat (MLB)?

If it’s multiple possessions in the NBA, you get lit-up each possession on defense and you are a complete liability on both ends of the quart.

If it’s multiple downs in the NFL, you get killed. Whether it’s pass-blocking or rushing. You are DEAD. Or, the QB dies because you can’t block ANYONE.

MLB? Is it one at-bat? If not, do you have to play in the field? If so, the opposing team hits at you and is still at-bat 5-10 YEARS later.

I played city rec league Towel football one year-down towards the rainbow fields. I played defensive tackle like 3 plays . I was so not good they didn't bother to block me . I got to a UNC Coach Theilman 's (sp?) son at qb and grabbed that towel-he dragged me 10 yards and as I recall they finally blew the whistle. I "got it" right then it was not for me I mean the guy cheated obviously-but it didn't matter

Let's say this is a one game deal.

With teammates "in" I suspect that I could eventually hit a three (at least in my prime) and the same would go for football and gaining a yard.

There is very little chance that I could ever hit a pitch in the three or four at bats likely.
