With connections I've been asking myself weird questions.

Example the other day mermaid was one of the words, I thought of the movie, Little Mermaid. So I asked are there 4 Disney movies. Are there 4 references to mythical creatures. The on that worked came from the title, are there 4 things I can add "little" in front of.

This has helped me. I believe I'm at 20 day streak.

Of course that doesn't seem to work with sports connections, since they have so many overlaps. Like last week when, Williams was both the name of a quarterback recently drafted as well as the last name of sports siblings.

I wish I had your knowledge for tightrope.

Very similar strategy for me on Connections. I'm always looking to add a common word, looking for homophones, singulars of things that are are often plurals, etc... Purple was annoying today since I thought one of the words was a stretch for that category and a better word wound up being in another category. There have been several questionable categories in the last week or two.

My take on connections is that the game designers are 100% trying to mess with people by creating false "pseudo" categories of 3 and 5 words. The only real solution is to figure out all 4 groups before you submit anything.

I wish the game would make it easier to provisionally group things. When I find a possible group, I use shuffle to get them in clustered in a way that makes it easy to ignore while I consider the other possible connections.

I sometimes shuffle as well to reset my brain from predisposed assumptions. Sometimes that helps me see other groups that I've missed. And the sports connections usually has at least two categories with five or six possible answers overlapping.

Truthfully, I used the other 3 vowels in my starter word, so this word was a way check the ones left. It's actually my go-to second word if only that fourth letter (the first one in today's word) shows up.

I had yellow and green in a minute and it took me 30 minutes to figure out blue and purple. Actually didn't figure out purple, they were the only four left.

I had to memorize blue in 10th grade. Made it incredibly easy.
