I think you missed the point. Our ACC rivals would prefer for us to have Doherty just like many European countries would prefer the US to have Harris.

When your competition (some of whom don't like you. are jealous of your previous success, or are at best indifferent to your success) gets to choose who they'd like to be in charge of your enterprise, they won't always choose the person that is actually in your best interest to have in that seat.
What? Denmark isn't saying they'd vote for Harris because they are jealous of the US or want us to fail.

The poll is asking who they would vote for if they were Americans voting in the election. Presumably, that means they’re voting for which administration they’d rather live under.

Moreover, if what you’re saying is true, wouldn’t the majority of Russians prefer Harris? Russia is our geopolitical rival, and if they think Harris would hurt America, then they would want her in power, right?

Ooooooooh, I see. You think Danes are choosing Kamala because . . . uh . . . they think Trump would actually do a better job as president but . . . um . . . the Danes don't really want America to succeed because . . . errr . . . we're their geopolitical competitors???

You want to rethink that one maybe?

Denmark is a very liberal country in general. They are the extreme outlier here just as Russia is on the other end of the spectrum.

But there is absolutely US jealousy that is deeply-rooted in basically all major countries throughout the world that plays a role here.

In other words, I'll let the suburban soccer moms who typically swing our elections decide what is best for America's future ahead of some random dude in Sweden who doesn't even truly understand the differences between the two candidates.

I'd guess MOST Europeans know the difference in the two candidates waaaaay more than your average American. American's are extremely poorly informed.

I have co-workers in Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, and the UK and they all more informed on US political issues than the American workers.

To be fair, HY's pretzel logic is accurate for the bottom handful of countries in the graphic.

Yes, but that's a biased sample. By definition those are people who have co-workers across the ocean. Are any of your co-workers proprietors of small B & Bs in the Loire Valley?

And yet --

1. Finland
2. Denmark
3. Iceland
4. Sweden
5. Israel
6. Netherlands
7. Norway
8. Luxembourg
9. Switzerland
10. Australia

23. United States

Maybe we have a little to learn from those "very liberal" countries?

We now know that HY does not know any Europeans or really anyone from other "major countries." By and large, they do not have US jealousy.

I don't know why that's so dubious. I mean, you know all about what Trump says he'll do. You just don't think he'll actually do it. Doesn't that make you functionally more ignorant than a European who takes him at his word?
I am far more in tune with American politics than almost everyone in America, much less in Europe. I’m not saying that to toot my own horn because that goes for all the regular posters here. We talk about this shit even when it isn’t election season.

You just don’t like my politics, and that’s fine. But don’t go full liberal on me and start thinking that means I’m ill-informed and don’t know the differences between the candidates, lol

Just a reminder. The sentence I thought was so ridiculous was “I'd guess MOST Europeans know the difference in the two candidates waaaaay more than your average American”

I don't think you're ill-informed. I think you know exactly who Donald Trump really is. You just don't think he'll do all the things he's been promising to do. And that seems to me to be a form of ignorance that's much worse than lack of information.

I think the average European citizen has a much greater understanding of the importance of liberal democracy, norms, and institutions than the average American does.

That’s really the only info you need to determine who to vote for between Harris and Trump.
