See, this right here is what I'm looking for. You've become my barometer. Probably a bad choice, given that you -- unlike 99% of Americans -- are a partner at a Big Law firm, but life works in mysterious ways. Anyway, I was depressed by your reaction to the debate. Now you're getting my hopes up, even more than before.
nycfan's reaction to the debate (before I even watched it) was what convinced me that something had to happen. And happen by god it has...

He doesn’t really make an effort to explain his positions at all. When presented with facts that he is citing BS stats, he claims we are going too far down the immigration rabbit hole on an election thread. He cuts and runs.
Clearly nycfan agreed with me because she helped facilitate by starting the immigration thread. She also deleted a few posts that were previously on this thread and carried them over to that one.

Stephen Miller is on The Beat with Ari Melber right now and they are talking about Project 2025 and immigration and a national abortion ban. Miller is blaming the controversy surrounding P2025 on left-wing media for blowing it out of proportion, not that the project directors actually published the document online and everyone else just picked it up and read it and interpreted it lol. And of course, he is denying that there will be a national abortion ban, and Trump was completely justified in wanting to send troops to the border, and he's JCD'ing January 6th saying that the alternate electors were completely legitimate and that Congress was supposed to consider them. And he's a fucking dookie, so there's that. Ari is handling it pretty well, being as respectful as he can and fact checking him in real time, even with Miller shouting over him. Miller is really something else.

He got enraged when confronted with actual questions on January 6th lol. Then he started shouting about sex trafficking. Gonna assume he’s projecting on that one hard.

The Palestine protests will not even be a speed bump. They will be in a designated protest space. This isn't going to be 1968. In 1968, the riots were caused by the police, who had a deep enduring hate for the hippie protesters. That's unlikely to be the case now.

Really hope they can keep it controlled.

I’m ok if he wants to punch back a little and point out how non-democratic the whole process was of removing Biden and inserting Harris, who not a single Democrat voted for in the primaries.
Nope. The claim that there was some kind of anti-democratic fuckery going on and that Harris was installed over Biden somehow is just absurd. And untrue.

You may be thinking that one set of rules governs the primary process, regardless of party. This is just not true. Only in the Republican primary process does a candidate need to release his or her delegates. In the Democratic party, all that is required is that the delegates cast their votes in good faith to reflect the will of the people affiliated with the Democratic party.

This article may help straighten out some of the confusion:

Probably because Democrats take every chance they can to call Trump a threat to democracy, so it’s hilarious the power brokers called the shots and subverted the primary system to put up the candidate that can win.
No, probably not.
