Sure if you are an old racist you think others think like you but if you’re a young person you know that’s who he was running against. So happy to see the beginning of the end for racist & misogynistic political folks to get their dicks stepped on!

So it is just as simple as: the regular people who vote absolutely hate the Republicans, but when Trump himself is on the ballot, the trolls come out in force? Because ever since he was first elected, the GOP gets their ass handed to them in every midterm or special election, then overperform in presidential years. Total opposite of how things were 20 years ago.

Or is there a better explanation?

Enough dumbasses on the left screwed the world by staying home in ‘24. Not to mention the dumbasses in certain demographics who believed anything trump said.

The numbers are there to beat them back but not by enough to run weak candidates and weak campaigns.

That said, I’m really familiar with the UK. The UK voted for Brexit and are about to vote for those idiots again.

A good family friend was the first actual chancellor/president/CEO of Cambridge University. Prior to his tenure, Prince Phillip was Chancellor of Cambridge. IIRC, Sir David’s title was “Vice Chancellor of Cambridge, Chief of the University.” Sir David was CEO of Cambridge University.

Sir David was from Wales. Sir David wasn’t fond of Maggie Thatcher.

Sir David loved Americans…..maybe that was the fundraiser in him…..

Wonderful man…..he’d have disliked Trump…..openly…..

I find people like most Americans (not the ugly Trumplican ones)….if you’re kind and inquisitive when traveling, people are welcoming.

Christian fundamentalists believe that the democratic party is, quite literally, the party of Satan. They believe that democrats are "godless" and they believe that communism is a tool used by the devil to lead people away from Jesus. So a Muslim "communist" is a godsend to those people for their propaganda. They want to portray all democrats as communists and Muslims as "other" -- not one of us.

So they absolutely will say the word "communist" over and over to describe the democrats. That is simply a code word for anti-Christian in the minds of tens of millions of voters.

Obviously, most of those people were never going to vote for democrats anyway. But the point of such propaganda is to motivate the base and to indoctrinate the impressionable, not to influence the denizens of this board.

Watch how much the few board pubs talk up "communism" over the next year. They will be forced fed that talking point from conservative media nonstop, which means they will repeat it on this board in monkey see/monkey do fashion.

Which is funny, because getting rid of the filibuster will, IMO, cement that the Dems won the shutdown fight (as it proves Pubs could have done whatever they wanted to do, whenever they wanted to do it, and chose not to).

I dearly hope Dems continue to push the shutdown fight and force Pubs to eliminate the filibuster or go around it to end the shutdown.
