I don't think 2020 is necessarily an outlier in that respect. That was the only election where Trump was an incumbent, so "Trump turns out voters other people can't" was counterbalanced by "the reality of Trump governing is a mess and there was a pandemic and economic crisis that voters blamed on the person in charge." Trump's ability to inspire personal loyalty is probably the only reason that election ended up being remotely close.
That may be the case, but I was responding to the simple statement: "When Trump is on the ballot".
He damn sure was on the ballot in 2020. I'll stand by my statement and what I think in that instance, and still acknowledge what you've said.

Don’t worry, sweetheart, I have a hunch that the people who voted for liberal and progressive policies in… New York and New Jersey and Northern Virginia… have very little interest in moving to any of those Third World states!

The irony is that things like Prop 50 will motivate Republican Californians to move to Texas. Now Texas is saying it doesn’t want those people.

Yep, didn’t Greg Abbott say he was going to impose a “100% tariff” on all people moving to Texas from places like California and New York? Lol!

As someone that has lived in Texas for over a decade and seen the uptick in transplants happen, it cracks me up when people who grew up here complain about it. “Don’t California my Texas with your bullshit liberal politics!”

They’re completely missing that lot of these people moving from California are actually republicans that want to be in a red state lol.
