When you’re 70 your memory stretches back a long way. Besides, George and Johnny were my grandfather’s favorite wrestlers.
George Becker’s submission holds was the “Abdominal Stretch” and Johnny Weaver used “The Johnny Weaver Roll.”

These are the Jim Crockett Promotions wrestlers I was talking about on the Hulk Hogan thread. Along with Rip Hawk and Swede Hanson managed by General Homer Odell, and Skull Murphy and Brute Bernard!

Don’t forget the Kentuckians and Two Ton Harris.

This really surprised me - not sure what it means
I dunno either. It appeared to me she was looking to be anointed as the Dem candidate, not enter a multi-candidate slog. She hadn’t done the kind of structural work that usually precedes a run for this sort of office … and I don’t think many in California were clamoring for her to run, TBH.

Yeah, my assumptions are she 1) felt the nomination was her’s then found out “no” and/or 2) was informed she needs a break to rehab the image. She’s maybe a Pelosi replacement, but IMO her time as a significant national political figure has come and gone. The charisma to meet this moment doesn’t appear to be there, and she’s going to carry the stink of 2024 for a while.

Haven't read through the last few pages to see if addressed, but here in Texas, the GOP this morning released a redistricting plan [at the behest of the felon in chief] that would add 5 GOP seats in Texas.

Of course, I have been without a representative since Sylvester Turner died earlier this year and Gov Hot Wheels refused to call the special election for the available May window.

Should they follow through with all of this, I really hope Pritzker, Newsom and Houchul decide to retailiate in kind.

“… Gothamist reviewed signatures submitted from across New York City and found people who said their names were forged, as well as people who said they were deceived into signing the petitions. In at least three instances, the campaign turned in signatures from dead people.…”

“…
In all, Gothamist identified 52 signatures that were fraudulently obtained or outright forged, but thousands more have not been vetted. Verifying signatures is time-consuming work; for two weeks, three reporters knocked on more than 200 doors in four boroughs and interviewed more than 100 people. In some buildings, the majority of the people we spoke with said their signatures had been forged.

There are other reasons to believe there may be many more problematic signatures. The fraud uncovered by Gothamist was committed by at least nine workers who together submitted more than 5,000 signatures.…”

What I've read is that they are cutting it pretty fine and it could end up as a dumbmander, where they lose a huge # of seats because their anticipated 52-48 margins slip to 49-51.

They will. California will have a proposition on the ballot this Fall to repeal the independent redistricting committee, and the proposition will pass with ease. This is one of those areas where the low approval ratings of democrats will motivate them to make these changes. They understand that "playing by the rules" is no longer popular with the base.
