It sounds like ICE will be deporting him soon.
Oh, if I was still a book maker I’d put the odds of him getting arrested/detained at even money, and would expect the line to drop to -110 to -150. I think we’ve steadily stepped into an era of political violence, that’s only going to accelerate. In that environment, getting arrested and/or detained will become a rite of passage for progressive candidates.

NY Mayoral primary is today.

Mamdani ahead of Cuomo in ranked choice voting: NYC mayoral poll

NEW YORK (WPIX) – The final major independent poll before Primary Day in New York City shows Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani passing former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the last round of a ranked-choice voting simulation.

The survey of early voters and likely voters in the Democratic mayoral primary, conducted by Nexstar’s WPIX, Emerson College and The Hill, shows Mamdani winning in the final round, at roughly 52%, to Cuomo’s 48%.

Cuomo has the greatest number of first-choice ballots, with the first round of the ranked choice voting simulation showing him at 36%, Mamdani at 34%, and New York City Comptroller Brad Lander at 13%. Cuomo maintains his lead as the simulation plays out until the final round, when Lander is eliminated and the majority of his “second choice” ballots flow to Mamdani.

But the ranked choice ballot structure really makes it tough to know how it will shake out.

The fact that Cuomo called on Bill Clinton to endorse him late in the process is telling that he felt threatened — that is probably not a political chip he wanted to use in the primary.

Doubt he’d even want to have to pull that chip out in a general.

When they’re forced to dust off Bill Clinton to fend off a rent freeze and free buses, it means they’ve got nothing left to offer but ghosts.

The meltdown from this will be pretty epic. The Democrats will try to spin a socialist winning that’s endorsed by Bernie. Fox will lead with this every night.

Cuomo was on the ticket. That’s the unknown. Were folks just not really wanting that again?

It isn't hard to understand Mamdani's appeal, especially when compared to Cuomo. Being seen as a status quo, establishment candidate is toxic in both parties right now, and Cuomo is nothing if not a retread and symbol of status quo Establishment Democrats. Mamdani is young, attractive, a fresh face, and whatever else he definitely is seen as the outsider with new ideas, socialist or not. It shouldn't be surprising that he's doing this well, even if he loses in the end in the primary or the general.

Think he’s winning the primary at this point. They’re going to try to India Walton him.

In the age of Trump, folks can overcome anything. Refusing to say Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish state is wild but Trump has said crazier.

How many names on the ballot?

Cuomo would be dead last on my ranked choice list.
Slight misconception about RCV: the candidates you hate most should be left off the ballot entirely rather than put at the bottom. Probably wont ever affect you, but good info either way.

I don't know if he'll win the general election or not - I think he has a good chance - but there are worse places to be as a candidate than being seen as a young, dynamic, idealistic fresh face outsider bucking the tired old dinosaurs and status quo types in your party and in NYC politics generally. We'll see what happens, but I wouldn't count him out by any stretch.

Republicans are about to find out that red baiting has lost most of its potency. If they position themselves against young energy like Zohran, they’ll suffer for it.
