God, I hope he does do something as stupid as this. Nationalizing the midterms would probably be the worst possible move for Trump. OTOH, he's surrounded himself with nothing but butt-kissing flunkies and stooges in his second term (witness his cabinet meeting just this week), and so I'm sure they've told him how beloved and popular he is, and he no doubt believes it.

No jest, Republican operatives will use the Nuremberg rallies to inform the aesthetics of this convention. Also, I’m confident Trump and his Heritage Nazi handlers will continue to up the number of high profile and inflammatory public demonstrations, in hopes of their Reichstag moment.

She was not polling well but I didn’t see this coming.
I did.

Remember how I said the Dems were going to take seats that we don't even know were up for grabs, because the national environment was so bad? I think I cited Iowa as a prime example. That and Ohio. I can't remember if I predicted that Ernst wouldn't run again, but it's consistent with my overall thesis.

It's worth noting that Susan Collins has not yet formally launched her campaign. It would not surprise me AT ALL if she didn't run again.

Joni Ernst isn't retiring because she doesn't like the job. She is retiring because she thinks she will lose.

Maybe, maybe not. Iowa very likely feels the brunt of the Trump tariffs, and the weird Canada hate. People don't want to lose their health insurance. Iowa is proud of its education system.

I think it's probably a toss-up at this point. At most a mild Pub lean.

MO might be able to squeeze an extra seat. It has 8 seats and 6 are pub. I am skeptical they could make 8 R seats out of 8.
