Kon Knueppel broke the NBA rookie 3-point season record and scored 28 points, Brandon Miller had 33 points and the Charlotte Hornets beat the Indiana Pacers 133-109 on Thursday night.

Needing six 3-pointers to top the rookie mark of 206 set by Keegan Murray in 80 games in 2022-23, the NBA’s leading 3-point shooter was 8 of 12 to get to 209 — in just 59 games. Golden State’s Stephen Curry holds the overall record at 402.

Last night was also Coby White’s first game as a Hornet. He played 19 minutes, and played PG and SG at various times. He scored 7 points and had 6 assists. He is big and strong enough to draw the defense in driving to the hoop and then dumping the ball out to Knueppel and Brandon Miller who were on fire from 3 point range. Great addition for the Hornets.

He actually played the game before last night vs. his old team, Chicago. He had 10 points (2-4 from 3) and 4 assists.

You're right. My brain fart. I watched both games and still forgot it. These guys are coming out of halftime and burying teams in the third quarter! The offense looks good with Coby in the game, he played 19 minutes last night and LaMelo played 22 minutes. LaMelo brings some things to the party that Coby doesn't but the flip side is true as well. I thought Coby was better at driving and kicking out to shooters....LaMelo frequently gets in trouble when he drives and the defense collapses on him. Coby seems more under control and is a good decision maker.

In any case, the Hornets are damn fun to watch right now. I gave up my Hornets tickets two seasons ago, but I'm considering jumping in again for next season. If the excitement keeps building I should be able to sell 20 games on Stubhub and pay for the season. That basically allows me to go to 20 games for free, and make sure I can keep my seats for potential playoff games.

I’m taking the family to tomorrow’s game.
