Back room card games?
Back room card games?
Poker games? Really?
Anyone want to bet if Harlan Crowe has a poker game?
“…
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that defendants used “technologically sophisticated operation designed to carry out their crimes.” This included “custom shuffling machines that could read the order of cards, barcoded decks and hidden cameras built into tables and light fixtures.”
She added that organizers also enlisted “well-known public figures, former and current NBA players and coaches,” including Chauncey Billups, “to make the games appear legitimate – victims believe that they were sitting at a fair table.”
Victims lost “millions,” she said, with one particular victim losing $1.8 million in total.
“(Total) losses exceeded $7 million and continue to climb,” she said.…”

Yeah, I wondered whether he was also something of a victim whose own gambling losses or other mob-arranged activities ended up with him being blackmailed or strong-armed into this? Or is he just a dude who thought hooking up with the mob for some dirty poker sounded like a thrill?Looks like some serious criminals got their hooks into Billups.
Or, Billups is a serious criminal.

It did say this game was tied to the mob. Doesn’t seem like it is just a bunch of friends playing amongst themselves.Wow really? Still going after illegal poker operations?
Now this I have a different opinion on than sports betting. I personally think it's laughable that sports betting - which I find to be far more insidious, addicting, and bad for society (and not to mention more predatory on the part of whoever is running the book) - is legal while poker is not.
Particularly for an investigation that significantly predates Trump’s election. How many times outside of the Trump administration has the head of the FBI invoked the President’s name as the impetus for a criminal action?
