And apparently LaMelo's dad went after a reporter who called out his son on X, calling the reporter a "clown" iirc. I get that a dad's first instinct is always to defend his son, but I'd hope that behind closed doors he made it a parenting moment to let his kid know that intentionally tripping Bam was an unsportsmanlike and defenseless garbage move and that he better never do something like that again. Sadly, he probably didn't say a damn thing.
I like Lonzo a lot and was always amazed that he seems to have turned out so chill and level-headed with a dad like that. I’ve always been neutral on Lamelo but I sure hope he didn’t fall closer to the tree. This was dirtbag stuff that if you pulled it at the park you’d be fighting before you even made it back to your feet.

Dubs had a really rough season in every way, all the Kuminga bs, so many crushing injuries that took them out of contention. Every reason in the world (on paper) to pack it up and tank the season away like lesser organizations did.

Instead they did this. Fought and clawed and hung in there, and literally every single guy on the court made huge plays. So proud to be a fan.

Don’t care what happens now, this was a perfect palate cleanser for that brutal season and such a pure example of what we teach little kids that sports should be about.

That was game 82 for Kon - I think he's hit the rookie wall the last few weeks. Kon leads the team in minutes this year.
Kon played deep into March Madness last spring (lost in Final Four) then got drafted and started working out with the Hornets. He played a key role in the Las Vegas summer league which the Hornets won, then transitioned into an 82 game NBA regular season (only missing one game.) The win over the Heat was his 82nd game of this season. He's been playing pretty much nonstop since the beginning of the 2024-25 season at dook. Now he's about to learn how physical the NBA playoffs are compared to the regular season. I imagine those legs are tired.

The reporter in question was Nick Wright, who said of LaMelo "That young man is a clown, and has been a clown forever and will never not be a clown".

That is the context of Lavar calling Nick Wright a clown.

Gonna have to put some respect on Draymond's name here. Kawhi has been an absolute beast all season and Draymond just took his cookies down the stretch.

LaMelo definitely fell closer to that tree. The main difference is that LaVar seems more confrontational whereas LaMelo comes across as more jolly. LaMelo also comes across as dumb as rocks and generally immature, though he has shown that he’s matured as a team player this year. I found him pretty unlikable prior to this season, but as I said in a prior post, he grew on me some this season as he seemed to buy into team play and focused more on making his teammates better vs. working on his highlight real.

A few years ago, I had a conversation with the manager of a restaurant in the ground floor of the building where Melo lives. He lives in the space that Michael Jordan either owned or still owns. Melo rents the space. The manager said Melo was a terrible tenant. Apparently, without consulting with the owner, Melo decided to put a hole between the two floors he owns and put in a pole he could slide down to get from the top floor to the bottom floor. WTF? Cam Newton used to live in that same building, which is kind of funny as I think Melo and Cam have a lot of similarities: both very talented but also polarizing; both come across as not too bright and immature; both post the dumbest and most incomprehensible shot on social media; both dress up like they are attending an event with Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne (from Dumb & Dumber).

Luka and Cade win appeals and will be eligible for awards - potentially having supermax contract impacts as guys fall off of 3rd team.

They are both elite in what they do.

Lavar raised 2 lotto picks and not like they were around pro coaching...and one that has an influencer/rap career that played D1 ball.

They are good, but not elite athletes. You might not like their personalities or styles but that dad pushed those sons to have dream lives.

Lavar is the man.

Nah, you can’t throw a blanket over the entire league and say “they all do it.” That’s highly disingenuous and doesn’t hold a drop of water. Plenty of elbows and jersey grabs and hip checks every which way… but ain’t nobody buying it that everyone does crap like this. Very few do.

I’m a Warriors fan and I’ve had to watch Draymond pulling shit similar to this for a long time, and when I see it, I call it what it is. I’m not saying Ball is Draymond, or especially not a guy like Dillon Brooks who actually tries to hurt people… but he very intentionally swept Bam’s ankle and caused Bam an injury that cost the Heat their most important player and leader. Call it what it is.

Haslem called it a WWE move.
Haslem? Completely neutral observer Udonis Haslem. Miami native, UF alum, lifetime Miami Heat player Udonis Haslem.
Disgusted look on his face when Coby hit that three Udonis “I’ve never left the state of Florida except for road games” Haslem.

Well that certainly settles it. Ball is a thug.

He was the first, he was doing the game. Shall we start listing the dozens of talking heads who called Ball out?

Anyone trying to take up for this guy on this is embarrassing himself. Own it and have the balls to call it what it is — a dirtbag move by a guy who’s done it before. Karma will find him.

Haha. You must be a big trump fan. Smoke and mirrors and who cares if it’s phony as long as some saps are buying it.
Not at all.

He's not my type of dude, but hid kids wanted to be hoopers and he made that happen at a rate only Rick Barry's done...and he's not Rick Barry.

Unlike Trump, I don't know about them being rapist and murderers...do you?

If he plays a WWE character on TV, its ridiculous...but a lot of young men would like to have his kids' options/outcomes.

You sound like one of those people who’s Cam Derangement Syndrome has suddenly morphed into LDS. Your histrionic hyperbole detracts from your argument, however weak.

Not sure who or what cam is and I don’t care, but the dirtbag moves are documented and everyone’s aware of what he resorts to now. Sorry guy, deal with it.

Like I said, been through it with Draymond and it ain’t fun to have a guy on your side who pulls dirty shit… but when you go to bat for it, you only make yourself look bad in addition to him.
