LaMelo definitely fell closer to that tree. The main difference is that LaVar seems more confrontational whereas LaMelo comes across as more jolly. LaMelo also comes across as dumb as rocks and generally immature, though he has shown that he’s matured as a team player this year. I found him pretty unlikable prior to this season, but as I said in a prior post, he grew on me some this season as he seemed to buy into team play and focused more on making his teammates better vs. working on his highlight real.
A few years ago, I had a conversation with the manager of a restaurant in the ground floor of the building where Melo lives. He lives in the space that Michael Jordan either owned or still owns. Melo rents the space. The manager said Melo was a terrible tenant. Apparently, without consulting with the owner, Melo decided to put a hole between the two floors he owns and put in a pole he could slide down to get from the top floor to the bottom floor. WTF? Cam Newton used to live in that same building, which is kind of funny as I think Melo and Cam have a lot of similarities: both very talented but also polarizing; both come across as not too bright and immature; both post the dumbest and most incomprehensible shot on social media; both dress up like they are attending an event with Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne (from Dumb & Dumber).
