Or they are hedging ... I mean Foster seems he may indeed be back by the final 4 if we make it. But Pat is more critical and should be playing this weekend

I know you and Duke want your two guys back. Of course you do. Anyone would.

I wonder…..have increased minutes for Brown and Sarr helped Duke?

Those two are defensive freaks of nature. Ridiculously long and quick. They make the court small in the way Pippen and Jordan did.

Brown had to be too involved with the offense. We learned that's not ideal

But the role players really stepped up which could help us for sure.

I'm just irritated that some of the talking heads act like the ACC is still ass and the Big East wasn't dog poo this season

Funny how things changed after more than one team per conference was allowed in the tournament. I was living in Hinton James dorm when NCSU won it all in 1974 with David Thompson. Everytime NC State made a good play over UCLA in the Championship Game, you could hear cheers erupt all over the dorm. More than one team per conference kind of killed the rally behind the team that got in vibe.

I remember the TV broadcast (might have been the electricity) going out during the State-Marquette game in the Finals.

Dad and I went into the garage and turned on a car to access the radio.

We were cheering for State to win.

Granted, we’d moved to North Carolina in 1967.
 
Ive been critical, but no way.

Obviously Big V dominates, but High will look way better against VCU. I also believe that Luka and Evans will look different against these athletes.

Speaking if athletes, I assume Seth and Jarin(along with Henri) will be the most dominant athletes on the floor.

VCU we'll be overpowered

I hope so. I’m very worried about this game. The team doesn’t look like it had the same energy once it knew Caleb was never playing again.

I was definitely pulling for UCLA when they played state in 1974. In the county where I grew up, rural Chatham, most folks were wolpfack backers (ag school -- ag countryside). All those state fans around me were insufferable as they remain, having converted much of that same lunkheaded energy into being trumpers in modern times. They came out of the woodwork a couple of years ago when they made that run to the Final Four (I didn't pull for them then either btw). Even my high school basketball coach was a follower of Norm Sloan strategies and tactics (it was galling to hear him praise Sloan in practice when the genius of Coach Smith was so evident) Sloan and state had landed Thompson and Burleson and a solid supporting cast -- shady dealings in Shelby were always alleged on that one, who knows but enough was eventually proven that a 27-0 1973 state team was barred from tournament play. Never heard any aspersions cast regarding the recruitment of the Newland Needle though. While Thompson was a phenomenal talent, even admirably so, I hated those MFers almost as much as Sub Carolina -- also an enmity that has survived down through the decades. dook was an also-ran at best in those times and but an after-thought most seasons. They were pitiful really and had very few fans save a Methodist here and there. Wake sucked too though could muster up a Big Four upset from time to time. They had about as many fans then as they do today -- also a pretty mean-spirited ABC crowd year-in and year-out.

In '72-73 we had finished second in the regular season 8-4 (25-8) but state had gone 12-0. They were ranked #2 and we were ranked #11. State was on probation and knew ahead of time that they were not going to the NCAA. We suffered a devastating first round loss to Wake Forest who was 4-9 (12-15) and dead last in the, then, 7-team league. Maryland was third in the league at 7-5 (23-7) but ranked #8 nationally -- they made it to the ACCT finals and lost to state 76-74. Since state was on probation ther Terps went to the NCAA -- they had McMillen, Elmore, and John Lucas -- a good team (we went on to a third place finish in the NIT and the Terps flagged out in the East Regional final against Marvin Barnes/Ernie DeGregorio Providence)

Our memorable players in 72-73 were Karl, Jones, and Kupchak and in 73-74 Walter Davis and Tommy Lagarde joined the team. In 73-74 we were 22-6 and ranked #12.

Those were tough times to be a Carolina fan -- state was so dominant with a 27-0 record followed by 30-1 and NCAA championship over UCLA, Wooden, and Walton. Maryland was good too -- Lefty was building his "UCLA of the East" program. Still, it was those years that made Coach Williams feel such disdain for Raleigh...I developed that same sentiment and it lasts to this day.
 
Our bracket doesn’t seem any more daunting than the other 6th seeds.
All things considered, VCU/Illinois/Houston doesn’t sound terrible for the Heels. Certainly no more so than let’s say BYU or Tenn

If Caleb weren’t injured, we may have crawled up to a 3 or 4 seed. Maybe even a 2 seed if he hadn’t even had the first injury. But “if” I weren’t such a dumbass I wouldn’t say stupid stuff like “if Caleb weren’t injured….”

you gotta love your bracket... looks like you have an easy ride to the Elite where at worst you might have to play #2 seed UCONN who finished 2nd in the Big East

played #3 seed and beat them
played #4 seed and beat them
played#6 seed and beat them
