Page now leads Berger by 172 votes with 2 precincts still out. Both precincts are in Guilford County, where Berger has been winning by a wide margin.
Wow. I live here in Guilford County and really did not anticipate this race being anywhere near close. I guess I haven't been paying enough attention.

Probably but until he also sexually harasses a staffer into self-immolating it's not the kind of awful they really are worried about
Was it sexual harassment or an affair that he broke off which led to her doing that? I thought it was the latter. And the congressional pubs wanted him to resign because he doesn’t always vote with the crazy bloc (which is nearly all of them), and not so much because of the affair thing (even though they cited that as the reason). Not saying he’s a good guy, but not sure you can blame him for the self-immolation either.

Pretty sure it's a combination of both:

I'm not suggesting congressional Pubs actually have any personal morals here that make them conflicted. They simply realize that even by modern Republican standards, the whole thing is an absolute PR nightmare.

No idea if this is accurate, but here you go. ETA: With all precincts now reporting, Sam Page leads Phil Berger by just 2 votes out of over 26,000 votes cast. It's going to be a good while before we know the winner of this one.

Looks like Dan Crenshaw lost his primary in Texas...

If anything ever more illustrated the crazy of the current gop, it is that Crenshaw is not "right wing" enough.... but you either bow down to the orange god or you are no longer a republican in 2026

Oh, yeah, it's a cult, not a traditional political party anymore. And they've learned to embrace the stupid and the insanity enthusiastically.

Respectfully this guy has been full of a lot of BS for a while. He may be right in this situation but I need that message from someone else.

Strikes me as just as likely that Paxton figured Crockett would beat Talarico and by cutting out late Dallas votes the pubs would prevent her from a majority. The pubs probably wanted the Dems in a nasty runoff as much or more than a particular Dem candidate. At least in this stage.

Also Crocket is winning Dallas county with just under 61% of the vote with 61% reporting. That currently equates to a 43k vote lead in Dallas while currently down in the popular vote by 110k. She was not winning either way. Now that does not speak to Paxton’s motives.
