Create the ad and run it now until November. It will take time for many Ohio voters to digest this and commit it to memory.I’m sure he will. He’s already using it for fundraising, and I’m sure this is an angle that scares the shit out of Husted. Actually it probably scares the shit out of all Ohio Republicans, since Leslie Wexner has been a huge contributor to Ohio GOP candidates for years. The Sherrod Brown campaign just connected those dots to find a campaign issue that will resonate with some Republican voters.
As a longstanding contributor to Sherrod Brown, the excerpt below is from an email I got this week.
“farce,
We always knew Jon Husted could be bought, but this is especially appalling.
Here are the facts: New reports reveal that my opponent, Jon Husted, has taken 10x more money than any U.S. Senator from billionaire Leslie Wexner. Wexner is a longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein and one of his top co-conspirators.
It gets worse. Husted didn’t just take Wexner’s money.
When the Senate had the chance to release the Epstein files and provide accountability for the victims, Husted voted against it.
Wexner’s most recent donation to Husted came just two months before that vote. You do the math.
It all makes me sick to my stomach.
Ohioans deserve transparency. We deserve accountability.
We deserve a senator who fights for working people, not one who protects the rich and powerful. Not one who protects the Epstein class. Not one who protects pedophiles.
I've spent my career holding powerful interests accountable – and I'm fighting as hard as I can to unseat Jon Husted and prove that working people, justice, and accountability matter more than protecting billionaires.
But no one person could win this fight alone. I need you, farce.
If you believe the super wealthy shouldn’t get special treatment – and the truth shouldn’t be hidden – I’m asking you to chip in $50 or whatever you can today to help us flip Ohio and bring accountability back to the Senate.”
GQPers have been successful in the past by hammering voters on just one simple issue no matter how inane.
So I say don't wait and start now running an ad to make this the top issue and the media will chase this shiny object through the election. Taking money from Wexner could be the equivalent to the media hounding Hillary's campaign with "what about her e-mails ? "
