Ugh. I mean, there's nothing in that post that is objectionable, so retweeting it would be no concern at all but for the author. And just because a person is a holocaust denier doesn't mean they are wrong about Middle Eastern wars.

For me, the bigger question is why they were following that account, and/or why they decided to retweet that instead of what is surely hundreds of other similarly phrased tweets.

Was that on twitter or bluesky, the original tweet? If it was on twitter, maybe the lesson is: get the fuck off twitter.
The original has since been deleted, but was on twitter and yes, getting off twitter is absolutely the right move

It’s not that complicated. If you’re retweeting a holocaust denier for affirmative reasons on any subject, you’re fucking up.

Yeah, its the social media equivalent of saying, sure Hitler was bad about some things, but ...
To be fair, I had no clue who that guy was. Do we know that Platner did? I don’t really do the Xitter thing. The tweets I see are the ones that get posted in other places like here. If you retweet something, does that mean you were following the original tweeter? Or could it just mean that you just happened to see the tweet? In other words, is it possible that he retweeted that without really knowing anything about the guy?

Yeah, that's what I meant when I said that the lesson is to get off twitter. Maybe they had no idea who he was. If you're retweeting random X accounts there's a high prob of amplifying some asshole.
