Yes. Technically there are many things that are technically more dangerous than the national debt. A president/administration that decided to launch nukes against the most populous blue cities is another example.

I'm talking about things that have a realistic chance of happening. Given the downward trend of religiosity in the US, I'm betting on our debt having significant, negative impact on the country before your scenario.
You must not be paying attention to what's happened in just the last year.

Call it what you want. Dems tried to run a dead guy and Republicans continue to run a clown.
the dems didn't run a dead guy, though. case in point. they're totally incompetent but they still have some adults in the room.

you can bo'side to your little hearts content but the incompetent dems simply aren't even remotely comparable to the unprecedented disaster malevolent freakshow that is the gop.

They ran a guy that they knew was unfit and it was known in 2021 when Biden stopped having cabinet meetings. Trump is the worst president in history. That doesn't change the shit Democratic leadership pulled.

I would like Tucker Carlson to run. It would tear the GOP apart. I don't think he would be a threat -- I think Americans will have had more than enough TV personalities leading the country.

The first part of your post is what everyone said about trump.

I somewhat agree with the rest. I think the MAGA folks are still ok with ultra right wing tv personalities.

Fair point. But Trump was doing something different. Carlson would be rehashing the same bullshit that sinks Trump. Still, I get it. Fortunately what I wish for doesn't matter. Takes the pressure off

I had an epiphany over the weekend related to voting in Presidential elections....

For the last 3 elections, I voted for the Libertarian candidate because I couldn't stomach the R or D candidates and I don't believe in voting out of fear, so I'm not going to vote for a crappy Kamala/Biden because I'm scared of a crappier Trump. However, I've acknowledge that I was wrong about Trump II. I thought he'd be similar to Trump I which, while often embarrassing, wasn't going to do any significant harm to the country or world.

Trump II has been awful and worth voting against.

But this isn't the first time this has happened and this is where I'm going to lose more than half the posters on this forum....

While my political views at the time didn't allow me to vote for Obama I, in hindsight, I can acknowledge that Obama I was a good president. I can't say the same for Obama II. It seems he wasn't kidding when he told Medvedev he'd have "more flexibility" in this second term. Obama II was divisive and damaging internally and damaging around the world.

My epiphany is that Presidents with nothing to run for behave like they have nothing to run for and, as such, second term presidential candidates should be voted against by default because the second term is where the are much more likely to do the damage.
