I had an epiphany over the weekend related to voting in Presidential elections....
For the last 3 elections, I voted for the Libertarian candidate because I couldn't stomach the R or D candidates and I don't believe in voting out of fear, so I'm not going to vote for a crappy Kamala/Biden because I'm scared of a crappier Trump. However, I've acknowledge that I was wrong about Trump II. I thought he'd be similar to Trump I which, while often embarrassing, wasn't going to do any significant harm to the country or world.
Trump II has been awful and worth voting against.
But this isn't the first time this has happened and this is where I'm going to lose more than half the posters on this forum....
While my political views at the time didn't allow me to vote for Obama I, in hindsight, I can acknowledge that Obama I was a good president. I can't say the same for Obama II. It seems he wasn't kidding when he told Medvedev he'd have "more flexibility" in this second term. Obama II was divisive and damaging internally and damaging around the world.
My epiphany is that Presidents with nothing to run for behave like they have nothing to run for and, as such, second term presidential candidates should be voted against by default because the second term is where the are much more likely to do the damage.
