Not that dimwitted dullards like ramrosuer have any interest in facts or nuance, but one of the wildest things to me ever since I left the Republican Party and started voting Democratic is how the right wing media ecosystem has successfully convinced the entire right wing in America that the word "liberal" is synonymous with "extreme far left", when the reality is that in doing so, liberals are constantly getting lumped in with people who are far more different than Democrats, than Democrats are from Republicans.

Liberals have far more in common with conservatives than they do with the far left- the people who believe in, say, the total abolition of a capitalistic society, or the abolition of police, or whatever. In fact, I've seen far more Democrats disavow the positions of people on the extreme far left- which are a very small minority in and of themselves- than I've seen Democrats disavow the positions of people on the right side of the ideological spectrum.

But because Fox News sniffs out far left, rather neurotic, and very fringe opinions online and presents it to Republicans as the face of the Democratic Party, they've created an environment in which smooth-brained dingbats like ramrouser can see something from a 30 second clip by someone called "Libs of TikTok" and believe that every single person who is liberal hates attractive women and muscle cars. If only Republicans had to answer for literally everything that "HitleriIsMyHombre1488" says on 4chan the same way that Democrats have to answer for everything uttered on TikTok by "blue haired fat girls with nose rings and pronouns"!

I'm only "liberal" now because I believe in things like "rule of law applies to everyone" and "presidents are not kings" and "science and vaccines are good" and "hurricanes are caused by low barometric pressure and not by gay marriage" and things of that nature. Most of my policy positions would be considered solidly right wing by the rest of the developed world, but here in the good ol' US of A, Fox News and right wing media has convinced its idiot consumers that I wear Karl Marx underwear beneath my Mao Zedong pajamas.

Just another example of someone who claims to believe in Jesus but follows literally none of his teachings. Basically like the rest of MAGA I guess.
Yet another thing they were specifically warned about but can't seem to understand --

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

And with that, I'll stop posting Bible verses as I know that's annoying to some people here.

While scholars have long speculated that Hitler must have modeled blue jeans as part of his fascist rule, the shocking ad has roiled historians. "We always thought blue jeans were a Nazi dog whistle, but now there is proof," said professor Dr. Martin Barnes. "The word jeans is literally a homophone with the word 'genes', which can only mean one thing: jeans want to invade Poland and kill all the gays. We must stop jeans at all costs."

At publishing time, the United Nations had passed a resolution declaring wearing jeans a hate crime.

“… According to a study by liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America, the network has spent over 85 minutes across at least 20 segments through Thursday afternoon discussing the commercial and the discourse surrounding it.

… Media Matters found that since Monday, Fox News has mentioned Sweeney 62 times on air compared to just 14 for Epstein. While MAGA competitor Newsmax has also given ample coverage to the Sweeney ad, the channel has also frequently discussed the Epstein situation – mentioning it four times more than the American Eagle commercial.

… MSNBC, which has yet to mention Sweeney on air this week, has brought up Epstein 756 times, while CNN has mentioned the disgraced financier 638 times, compared to just six references to the Sweeney ad.…”

I'm probably really showing my age here, but when this thread first appeared I had no interest and didn't click on it until late this morning. I had no idea that liberals like myself were supposed to be outraged over an attractive young woman modeling jeans, something which has been going since, I dunno, at least the 1970s. I had no idea who Sydney Sweeney was until I saw Dear Leader's tweet promoting her, and then I read a little on the net about this amusingly artificial controversy manufactured almost entirely from right-wing sources - as someone else has already noted, liberals were so outraged by this ad that Trumpers had to come over here and tell us that it existed. And then I remembered this thread and after skimming through it I can only add what most others here have said - there is not, nor has ever been, any widespread (or even minor) "woke" liberal outrage over these ads - my guess is the vast majority of liberals either haven't seen them or if they have, they just glanced at them and moved on to something more important like normal people do with most advertisements.

This whole incident is revealing of the Trumper need to be constantly outraged by something nefarious that liberals are supposedly doing, even when in reality they're not, and of the eagerness of right-wing media to drum up manufactured outrage over total nothing burgers like this. The fact that Dear Leader's tweet consistently misspelled her name and he said that he would only think her ad was "fantastic" if she was a registered Republican pretty says it all about what this is really about. When your party's celebrities are has-been or never-was actors and celebrities like Scott Baio, Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain, Kelsey Grammer, and so on, then I guess the prospect of having an attractive young model and actress turn out to be Republican (if she really is, I gather that she hasn't really said much politically) is no doubt intoxicating. Nonetheless, Trumpers, continue to be outraged or amused or whatever at liberals being upset over something that they're really not, and in fact don't seem to care much about at all - certainly not as much as Trumpers do.
