Sorry, the point I was trying to make was about trusting Trump to tell the truth generally, not about LA specifically. That may not have been clear.A huge percentage of the apolitical do not care about this issue and are not even aware of this issue.
I'd wager that out of the 350 million Americans, maybe only 50 million of them have any idea there have been riots in LA. Of those, maybe 10-20 million have heard anything Donald Trump has said or done. And of those, maybe 50-60% think he is full of shit (even the Heelyeah's who vote for Trump don't believe most of what he says).
I am comfortable that there are not 175 million plus Americans who believe Donald Trump's lies about the military in Los Angeles.
I don't think Trump has ever come close to convincing a "majority" of Americans about anything. He has a pretty loyal following at about 25% of the public -- those people will accept pretty much what he says no matter how crazy. I think there are another 10%-20% who are default Republicans who recognize that Trump is a BS artist but they don't like liberals. There is probably a solid 20% that is completely apolitical and just chooses the lesser of two evils when election time rolls around and they simply don't have the bandwidth to think about Trump at all. And the remaining 35%-45% of the population is pretty anti-Trump no matter what.Maybe not, but I worry a huge percentage of the apolitical assume Trump is telling something resembling the truth because they’re not plugged in enough to know better. Add them to the 40% of Americans who are plugged in but are gullible enough to trust Trump and it could potentially be a majority.
Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then? There’s probably 10 million that don’t even believe in Los Angeles.
At some point, we have to ask ourselves if he is merely lying or genuinely insane.
SecDef seems to think they are National Guard(?)That picture doesn't confirm anything. It could be national guard. It could be marines. It could be cosplay ICE. No way to tell.
I worry that lawtig might be correct.Majority?

I believe in law and order and low taxes, too. But that doesn't mean they believe Trump when he says he is turning on the water to LA or that he saved LA from ruin or any of the other myriad crazy stuff he says every day.I worry that lawtig might be correct.
Significant percentage of “Independents” and “moderates” living in the suburbs and exurbs believe in “law and order” (and low taxes); if Trump is “supporting” “law and order,” they’ll back him.
