America's Reichstag fire??? (ICE, Nat’l Guard & Military in LA)

This is straight up nazi
Psychologically, they are the same people. “Good Americans” exist in abundance, as well. IMO, the only things potentially preventing mass bloodshed are this admin’s relative incompetence, and my now hardened opinion that Trump has zero plans to leave the White House, in this life. I don’t think Trump wants to rule over a violent, hollowed-out shithole country - it’s aesthetically unpleasing.

I agree with everything you wrote except the last part. I think trump will feel more powerful by being increasingly cruel.

Maybe. I certainly reserve the right to be sanguine. That said, trump is 80. He's always been driven by greed, insecurity, and public perception. He's a walking, talking example of "please, please love me, daddy".

Mass violence isn't good for prestige. Mass violence isn't good for acceptance by the gentry (just chronic, low/mod violence against poor people is acceptable). What happens when his cult gets smaller, and even more concentrated in the populations he already despises (let us not forget, trump thinks rural America is a shithole)? The pod-bro culture has steadily started turning. Tech-bro culture will likely follow Elon over trump. Owning a cult of people you find deplorable isn't fun, nor good for one's ego. A country with guerrilla violence and bread lines pasted all over tiktok, insta, x, bluesky, etc. isn't good for business nor one's standing on the world stage (yes, he's delusional, but he also folds like a cheap suit when confronted).

Trump arguably reveres King Charles more than anyone. I think we're more likely to get Hungary, with an attempt at enshrining the most incompetent "royal" family on the planet, than a Reich.

Also, since last summer, I've been predicting the invocation of martial law by the end of september (somewhere), disappearances, a formal SA, and concentration camps. All but one of those has happened and the one that hasn't got a practice run. I think this country likely burns, just depends if we're talking a massive open-space fire that shrouds us in an indeterminant smokey, insidious haze, or is this the 2018 Camp Fire and we're Paradise, CA.

“… While past presidents have occasionally used the Insurrection Act to deploy the military in response to clear, acute crises, the way Trump has deployed troops in Democratic-run cities is unprecedented in American politics. Trump has claimed broader inherent powers and an authority to deploy troops to cities when and where he decides there is an emergency, said Matthew Beckmann, a political science professor at UC Irvine.

“President Trump is testing how far he can push his authority, in no small part to find out who or what can challenge him,” he said.

State and local officials reacted with shock when they learned Border Patrol agents had massed outside Newsom’s news conference Thursday. The governor was preparing to announce the launch of a campaign for a ballot measure, which if approved by voters, would redraw the state’s congressional maps to favor Democrats before the 2026 midterms.

Border Patrol Sector Chief Gregory Bovino told a Fox 11 reporter: “We’re here making Los Angeles a safer place since we won’t have politicians that’ll do that, we do that ourselves.” When the reporter noted that Newsom was nearby, Bovino responded, “I don’t know where he’s at.”

However, local law enforcement sources told The Times that the raid was not random and that they had received word from the federal authorities that Little Tokyo was targeted due to its proximity to the governor’s event. The raid, the sources told The Times, was less about making arrests and more of a show of force intended to disrupt Democrats.…”
