Politics and sports have been intertwined for decades. If you think Da U fans aren’t well-represented in MAGA, as in a majority of Da U fans, you’re mistaken.

I think there are a shitload of UNC fans, grads, and administrators who are currently fans and facilitators of the Trump admin.

So I think this is kind of a worthless convo to get wrapped up in.

I grew up in North Carolina and went to UNC.

I have little doubt that most North Carolinians are racist fucks.

A poll of UNC students was done about the U.S. Senate race in 1984 between Jim Hunt and Jesse Helms. Helms won the poll. I wasn’t surprised. The UNC Student Body was less than 10% black and it was racist as hell.

Ok, so let’s put this conversation to bed regarding Miami vs UNC. This really isn’t a convo worth continuing. You and I are on the same side.
 
I would contend the strong majority of UNC students and alumni are left leaning

And the strong majority of UNC fans that didn't attend the school are right leaning.

NC State students are right leaning and state fans that didn't attend are very very very maga

Anecdotal-I happen to know several 30 something NC State grads-mostly engineering grads
They are strange politically. Not racist, not homophopic etc-but Never watch/read main stream news.Like maybe don't care sometimes?

“I’m not in a party. I just want most of the things that are central to the Democratic Party’s platform as long I’m not connecting those things with the Democratic Party. But because the Democrats’ attempts to achieve those things are always obstructed by the Republican Party, I am going to vote Republican, which opposes those things. I’m also not crazy about trans women and girls playing women’s and girls’ sports, and Republicans keep telling me it’s going to be the norm if Democrats get elected. And I don’t want to pay taxes.”

That is the majority of STEM grads of any age and absolutely endemic of younger millennials and Gen Z folks.

My kids are 18 and 16. They don't watch the news on TV. Maybe they see some news online. But they don't really watch TV at all. I think it's to the point a lot of kids just don't want to know what's going on because it's been so awful.

I used to hang out with a group of people that ran long on people like engineers ,foresters, boat mechanics and carpenters who were all fairly apolitical. Hell, I only talk about politics on message boards. Only do it here because I can skim through the responses to see if anything resonates or piques my attention.
 
I dunno. I didn't even start voting regularly until my late 20s. I'm not sure what age I was when my main priority shifted from finding the next superficial thing to entertain myself. So data on the most recent generations may not be ripe yet.
