In his first month in office, President Donald Trump’s approval rating is at 52%, with voters most satisfied with his job on immigration, reducing the cost of the government, and returning America to its values. The majority of voters support Trump’s policies on the border, focus on government expenditures, gender, DEI, and offshore drilling but have concerns on his foreign policies involving tariffs, the Israel-Hamas war, and the war in Ukraine.

  • 42% of voters say the country is on the right track, up 14 points from January 2025 (Democrats: 21% (-9); Republicans: 71% (+37); Independents: 31% (+12)).
  • 31% of voters say their personal financial situation is improving (+5), particularly among Republican, male, Black, and urban voters.
  • Inflation and immigration remain the top two issues for voters, with a 6-point increase in concern over corruption.
  • The Democratic Party received its lowest approval rating since at least March 2018, with 33% of Democrats, 86% Republicans, and 70% Independents disapproving. 49% of voters approve of the Republican Party (+1). 36% of voters approve of Congress (+5).
  • 83% of voters favor reducing government expenditures over increasing taxes, and 77% say a full examination of all government expenditures is necessary.
  • 70% of voters say government expenditures are filled with waste, fraud, and inefficiency (Democrats: 58%; Republicans: 78%; Independents: 75%), and 69% support the goal of cutting $1 trillion of government expenditures.
  • 60% of voters think DOGE is helping make major cuts in government expenditures.

First 100 days approval ratings:
Obama 65%
Biden 57%
Trump (1st term) 41%

Trump second term is seeing some bad omens. 52% this soon after taking office is not good. His approval for people under 30 has already dropped like 20 points.

Let’s see where Donald is in late April/early May. I’m biased, but I think it will look a lot like the 41% he posted the first time around.

Now, how does that compare to past presidents one month into their terms?

Very, very poorly.

These aren't good poll numbers.

Considering inflation is increasing and he's really done nothing new with immigration, other than pay more to use military planes, the people who take these polls should be ask for examples of why they believe these things.

Dogshit with its fire, figure out what they do, then rehire approach really isn't making the cuts or creating the efficiency they keep claiming, therefore we have to wonder how informed and from what sources these poll respondents get their news.

Values? That's a laugh. From men with multiple divorces, multiple children with multiple wives, rape accusations, cheating, paying porn stars for sex, cover ups,

As for efficiency, every company has inefficiencies. Most prople are for figuring them out, especially at companies they don't work for or the government where they have been programmed to think "their tax dollars" pay for everything and they recieve nothing for their tax dollars. So while I do agree with being efficient, just don't agree with approach, I still question the uninformed voter that doesn't see the benefit they recieve from their tax dollars. Maybe if we get the lobbiest out of the decision making, enact a single player medical system, leverage the government buying power to reduce cost and ensure everyone is covered, they might then understand that they do recieve benefit from their tax dollars. Since this will never happen, we have to hope they realize how much benefit they recieve from the police, fire, and public health, CDC and other organizations, and stop believing the lies that all their tax dollars go to undocumented immigrants vacation funds.

Uninformed voters, uninformed poll results.

Ya’ll can look at those numbers and see bad signs all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that right now, despite all that Trump has done to undermine American institutions, ideals, and allies, the majority of the country approves of his presidency.
Maybe, but that's just one poll. There are other polls out there also taken recently that already have him underwater in the 45% range. I wouldn't base anything on just one or even two polls, although it certainly is rather depressing that even 45% of Americans are supporting this clown show thus far.

ETA: A CNN poll from just five days ago shows his approval rating at 47% and disapproval at 52%. Other polls taken over the past week - Reuters, Quinnipiac, and Gallup - all have him in the 44 to 47% approval range and underwater. Aggregate polling on 538 showed that when he took office a month ago Trump's approval rating was 50% and disapproval at 41.5%, but now it stands at 48% positive and 47.3% negative. So his negatives have risen considerably while his approval rating has stayed mostly flat.

Still waiting for the 100 day benchmark.
Yep. Every president ever has had a honeymoon. Trump’s appears to be more like a one night stand than a fortnight in Paris, but we’ll need to wait a little longer to know for sure.

One night stand would be normal for trump

There is an existing catch-all for approval polling, so will probably merge the threads.

And that poll numbers really don't matter to Trump who can't run again in a free election, or won't really step down.

That's because it's been 30 days.
Folks will give it more time before they admit THEY screwed up...admitting it now is hard for people who screwed the country.

In addition, the impacts really haven't hit most people....yet. But it's coming fast. 100 days in will look way worse.

I'm not sure that it will, but I've also been tracking a couple of odd trends in polling lately. For example, 538 has two different sets of polls on Trump, one for "approval rating" and one for favorability. Why? I don't know. What's the difference? I'm not sure. But but sets of data exist, and they are showing different data.
