Lots of interesting details when they break down the independent groups by shared outlook.
I would be interested in reading that detail, but every time I open a CNN lick I get hit with an "I consent to be tracked" pop-up, and no... no, I do not consent to be tracked. I guess no CNN for me.

I'd bet this sentiment doesn't apply to only Latinos. Lots of buyers remorse about voting for Trump, but feeling like there's no appealing alternative.

Trump approval slipping among Latinos, but Democrats haven't made major gains

....But recent polling suggests Hispanic support for the president and his policies has dropped, primarily over economic issues, including the high prices of groceries and housing.
.....a New York Times/Sienna poll this week, 69% of Hispanics said they disapprove of the way Mr. Trump is handling his job as president, and 58% said they believe he has made the economy worse since he took office.

....
But the Democratic-commissioned polling also found that Latinos' fears about Mr. Trump's economy did not seem to be translating into support for Democrats — by April, they still had not made major gains among these voters.

....."Democrats need to talk about what they will do for Latinos, not just how horrendous Donald Trump and Republicans have been," Cardona said. "Democrats need to lead with 'this is what we will do for you, here is how we will help you and your family live a better life,' which is again the reason why we all came to this country to begin with."

I know this is shocking to say, but maybe, just maybe, if more voters actually did a little research and educated themselves (I know, lol) about the issues and people surrounding a candidate, then they would make better choices and we wouldn't end up with these shitshows like eight years of Dubya and now eight years of this. "Nah, I'll just vote for whatever candidate has the magic (R) next to their name like my daddy and grandaddy did and whomever Fox News tells me to oppose, which is always Democrats."

I hate to tell Lisa Munson this, but if she voted for Donald Trump three freaking times then she's a Republican, not an independent or whatever the hell she imagines herself to be.

Remember the all-important “who would I like to have a beer with” test.

2025 polling trends

  • Approval rating drops: Trump's net approval rating among Black voters fell by 25 points between May and August 2025, according to The Economist/YouGov polls.
    • In May, his net approval was -47 (22% approve, 69% disapprove).
    • By August, this dropped to -73 (11% approve, 84% disapprove).
  • High disapproval: A September 2025 Fox News poll showed 77% of Black voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president. A Decision Desk tracker also showed his disapproval hovering around 70% in September.

To be fair, she may just be an independent fascist and not really tied to a political party.

Then in that case she will fit right in with the modern GOP and needs to realize that's where she now belongs, not falsely claiming to others that she's some kind of "independent."

I am registered as a Democrat and made that choice when I turned 18 years old but in almost 50 years of voting I have cast a ballot FOR a candidate on three occasions...and I personally knew all three of those people. There may have been one other occasion but it was in my very first election and I truly cannot remember my exact sentiments...it was the Carter/Ford contest in 1976 though I suspect that I probably did actually vote FOR Jimmy Carter.

Every other vote I have cast has been AGAINST the conservative and been as strategically cast for maximum effect as I could figure. I suspect that a good many make their voting decisions similarly. That said, there is a huge difference between the two parties that dominate our system and that AGAINST vote is unlikely to change from what I see in the political landscape.

Just for the record, and not that it matters:

1. That post switches the Atlas Intel numbers for approval and disapproval. Trump is negative in the poll among all racial groups, including black Americans.

2. Atlas Intel is a web-based pollster, which means it’s not reliable, especially outside presidential campaign seasons.

3. Web-based polling is especially unreliable for black Americans, consistently overstating black support for Republicans, often to a major degree.

4. Trump is a liar, and anyone who supports him is 100% fine with that.

They truly do just live in an alternate fantasy world now in which whatever they want to happen just magically happens. To listen to Dear Leader he's ending wars like no other president has ever done, our (Democratic-voting only) cities are hellholes of rampant crime and despair everywhere and his sending troops to them is wildly popular with everybody and they've been amazingly successful, instead of just patrolling touristy areas and picking up trash and chasing down "suspicious" (immigrant looking) pizza delivery drivers, all darker-skinned immigrants are criminals, thugs, and terrorists and he's driving all of them out of the country with no negative consequences for farmers or any other industry, his trade war is wildly successful and has earned us $17 trillion so far, other nations are kissing our ass right and left instead of just laughing at us behind our backs and continuing to do what they want, and on and on.

And his base loves it because they live in the same fantasy world that he does. And they know it's true because it's all being confirmed for them every hour of every day by Fox News and our increasingly craven and supportive "news media" owned mostly now by a handful of right-leaning or butt-kissing plutocrats and corporate conglomerates eager to deal with the administration. Our entire political and economic system - not just the news media - is completely broken and dysfunctional, and yet many Americans are in complete denial about it all.

What that poll shows me is that the left again hurt the Democrats. The Gaza situation probably had something to do with that. I wonder what the "Uncommitted" folks are thinking about right now. Are they thinking, "we made ourselves partly responsible for the genocide in Gaza by boosting the candidate who was guaranteed never to stand up to Bibi?" LOL. Of course not. They're probably blaming some centrist Democrat.

Purists and extremists don't care; they hate compromise more than the people who carry out the things they say they are 100% against.
