As bad as all of those were, Trump is different and much worse. He is all of them but MUCH worse is so many ways.
Trump is as bad or worse, true, but the statement is also true: We haven't evolved since 1960. Hell, we haven't evolved since 1860. And Strom and Jesse were indeed just as bad as Trump and had they been given the Presidency right after a black man had been in the office, they too would have been doing the same shit as Trump - and possibly worse. No, make no mistake. This 40% approval crap is there precisely because Jesse and Strom were around to pave the way to where we are now.

I know, it's madness. But hate is a helluva drug and misery loves company. Based on interactions with my (former) friends and family who are Trump supporters, I personally feel they stick with Trump because he hates the same people that they do, instigated by and perpetuated by Fox News and the like. They don't care if Trump and his cronies are engaging in a kleptocracy in plain view, as long as the libs are being owned (libs = anyone not in the cult). Us being concerned or frustrated or mad about what they're doing is what they live for. I laugh when I see a headline somewhere that says "Trump coalition splintering" because it's bullshit. Them not liking something he's doing doesn't equate to abandoning support for him. It's a moronic cult in every respect.
Yep. If improving things in this country means white conservative Christians giving up control they'd rather stay stuck where they are, even if it means living in dying small towns and struggling farms and dying industries with little hope for the future. And they'd much rather drag all of those "snooty and condescending" liberals down to their level where we can all be miserable together rather than work together for a better future. That's why MAGA has so deliberately targeted universities and colleges, big cities, and made so many cuts with DOGE - they're firing (mostly) liberals in decent-paying jobs to get them down to their level. And in truth they've been this way long before Trump. Poor white Southerners supported slavery and died by the hundreds of thousands for it in the Civil War even though slavery ensured that poor and marginal whites would never be able to get out of poverty or improve their economic status - how could they compete with a free labor source?

And I also have family and old high school friends back home who feel and think the same as the people you described. It's a vicious cycle, and most definitely a cult.

so let's look at those polls:

Rasmussen and RMG are run by Rasmussen
Daily Mail is a hard right "news" org in Britain
Quantus insights is an on-line poll that is conservative

and even with these Trump bias polls the best they can muster is a range of 42-46% approval for Trump
There must be some “there” there.

If GQPers lose male voters in November ?

What happens if trans women become a big topic?

This is the lowest I have seen him on all the poll tracker sites. Getting him under 40% and keeping him under 40% on the poll aggregator sites is very important in removing his power base. Once senators are convinced that Trump does not have the ability to hurt them, they will turn on him in an instant.

It is critical that Trump continue to drop in these polls. I am hoping for a summer of $6 a gallon gas.

There is a reason all the trans bullshit was added to the SAVE Act. Gets it back into the discussion cycle.
Oh, yeah, I suspect that in many areas it will become the #1 GOP candidate talking point - "If you elect this Radical Leftist Democrat [insert name], then they will pass laws that will force your daughters to play against men in girl's sports and perverts will be abusing your daughters in public restrooms and liberal public school teachers and Marxist college professors will be encouraging your children to change their gender! Only by voting for me can you avoid this nightmare!" They're desperate and shameless, so I expect anything and everything to be thrown at Democrats this fall.

I just hope that Democrats have developed a better response to all of this crap than the Harris/Walz campaign had, which was to just ignore it and hope that it would go away.

That graphic is making me queasy. I'm not saying it's deliberate (also not saying it isn't), but for fuck's sake people, let's not normalize the idea that the US military is "law enforcement".

Posse Comitatus has been law of the land since 1878. If if whoever put that poll together didn't know that, they sure as hell should have.

The overall implication this graphic gives is that the US military is the most trusted law enforcement agency in the land. If I was baking up a psyop to unconsciously prep us all for the use of the military for peacetime population control, that graphic is exhibit A on where I'd start.

First time in Trump 2.0 that the Silver tracker has him below 40%. That is a huge threshold to cross. He has been dropping like a rock ever since the gas prices spiked.
