I love the right leaning RCP average of polls because it tells me how desperate things are for Trump. They scramble to post a bunch of questionable right wing polls to mitigate the more mainstream legit polls to give Trump a 41% approval

I've thought for a long time his bottom line is right around 38%. For unknowable reasons, that percent of Americans would support him if he fucked a sheep on the evening news. He's pretty much at that level now. Which means, if you still support Trump, you're one of the ones who would support him if he fucked a sheep on the evening news.

In this respect bigoted MAGA nation is not a new phenomenon in our modern history and is not a monumental indictment of modern America.
35% of our country has been a strong bigoted part of this country in our modern history ( and before)

There was a brief period where the bigots were shamed and had to hide under a rock, but Trump said you no longer have to hide in shame. With me as your leader you can crawl out from your rock and be proud out loud bigots with my blessing.
That is why Trump will always have a hold on 35% of the country.

Public perceptions of brands rarely stay static. Musicians and actors go in and out of favor with the public. What is cool one day, may be lame the next.

Once a critical mass starts to turn against Trump, it will bring others along for the ride. When MAGA folks see people they like and respect suddenly shit-talking the President on Facebook and X, it gives them a permission structure to do the same. Suddenly, their identity is no longer intertwined with supporting the President. And if that movement gains steam, it can be like a freight train heading down the tracks.

Trump intuitively knows this, and that is why he is trying to figure out a way out of Iran as fast as possible. But if gas prices continue to spike over the Spring, he may enter a death spiral that brings his support into the 20s or even the teens.
