Best singing voice of your generation

Another one I think has amazing voice is Justin Vernon (Bon Iver, Volcano Choir, Big Red Machine, etc.) I guess technically he is right on the fence of being a very young Gen Xer and very old Millennial, but close enough. Hama only 6 years younger than me. Many of his songs are sung in a falsetto, which I do appreciate, but I really like his soulful baritone that he sings in in many of his songs.

Maybe I’m confused on the topic, but your list crosses like five different generations.
You are absolutely correct. I got carried away. I thought of it as people I've heard in my life, ergo, my generation.

However, what exactly is meant by "my generation"? I'm Gen X so that means I only get from the late 60's to 1980 or something? Is that the essential ask?

In my mind, I was referring to singers who were born in the same generation as you.

Mark Arm

Edit: I was joking, but I did a quick google search and realized Mark Arm is actually a (young) boomer. So we aren’t even of the same generation.
The one time I saw Mudhoney live was at a “secret show” at Car’s Cradle in the summer of 1997. I was living in Chapel Hill that summer, and I learned about the show and was able to score tickets because I knew someone who worked at School Kids Records. The employees there were given some tickets and the guy I knew who worked there gave a couple to me and another friend of mine.

The show was a triple bill and Mudhoney was the first act to perform. The second act was Sonic Youth, who played an almost entirely instrumental set of unreleased songs. The headliner was actually Redd Kross, which was kind of funny because they were probably the least famous act of the three. But everyone at the show seemed to be in the know, and I think one of the members of Redd Kross lived in the area at the time.

Kelly Clarkson, if I were of that generation
yeah this is a good call for the millennials. she is not as glamorous as beyonce/adele but probably the most talented vocalist and she was plucked from obscurity via freaking american idol. what a story.

my sister sold her a bunch of clothes one time when she worked at this nice little boutique in duck and kelly was super cool, friendly, down to earth and gracious. not just with the girls working in the shop but with all the people who approached her, too.

Not sure, wasn’t trying to be a jerk. Should probably have just minded my own business. 🙂
