Otis Redding came to mind for me, but I wasn't even alive when he recorded probably his most popular song.Maybe I’m confused on the topic, but your list crosses like five different generations.

Best national anthem ever.
ooohhh good call on leon bridges.
another decent addition to the millennial brigade.
Check the 4th post of the thread.I'm a little miffed that we're this deep into this thread and nobody has mentioned Freddie Mercury.
Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin should also enter the chat.
You are absolutely correct. I got carried away. I thought of it as people I've heard in my life, ergo, my generation.Maybe I’m confused on the topic, but your list crosses like five different generations.
I guess I have to dislike you a little less since you name checked Westerberg. Not sure he is one of the best singers, but surely one of the best songwriters.Joe Strummer
Paul Westerberg
Elvis Costello
Black Francis.
In my mind, I was referring to singers who were born in the same generation as you.You are absolutely correct. I got carried away. I thought of it as people I've heard in my life, ergo, my generation.
However, what exactly is meant by "my generation"? I'm Gen X so that means I only get from the late 60's to 1980 or something? Is that the essential ask?
The one time I saw Mudhoney live was at a “secret show” at Car’s Cradle in the summer of 1997. I was living in Chapel Hill that summer, and I learned about the show and was able to score tickets because I knew someone who worked at School Kids Records. The employees there were given some tickets and the guy I knew who worked there gave a couple to me and another friend of mine.Mark Arm
Edit: I was joking, but I did a quick google search and realized Mark Arm is actually a (young) boomer. So we aren’t even of the same generation.
yeah this is a good call for the millennials. she is not as glamorous as beyonce/adele but probably the most talented vocalist and she was plucked from obscurity via freaking american idol. what a story.Kelly Clarkson, if I were of that generation
sierra ferrell is unbelievable. appalachia country music ftw.Easy call on Millennials:
Sierra Ferrell
Marcus King
Not sure, wasn’t trying to be a jerk. Should probably have just minded my own business. You are absolutely correct. I got carried away. I thought of it as people I've heard in my life, ergo, my generation.
