How have the Democrats fared so far as the party of "norms" - have voters rewarded them for being the party of "norms" or clearly indicated that they no longer give a shit about such things? Voters literally just elected, for the first time in American history, a man who has 34 felony convictions and who just four years ago instigated a clear violent insurrection attempt to prevent his opponent from taking office. And that's just for starters. And yet he just won the election. What do the Democrats have to gain by being the party of "norms" if the voters don't seem to care?

And yet again, I'll say that this pardon pales in comparison to all of the shit that Trump pulled in his first term and will no doubt do in his second. The outrage over this pardon is the height of hypocrisy, both by Trump Republicans and all of the news media.

Well, if the concern is how Trump and his cabinet intends to utilize the FBI/DoJ, then do a blanket pardons for future convictions, but keep your word regarding what Hunter has been convicted for.

I think you need to be a little more specific - Biden is ignoring a norm, and getting a lot of flack from other Dems.

The President's pardon power may turn out to be the biggest problem and manifest itself in ways we haven't thought of. Of course, Trump will be shopping for bad people to do his bidding and handing out pardons to them. "Russia if you are listening" thing.

And, it could work the other way. Bad people shopping Trump. Just assassinate a Trump enemy and expect all your crimes to be pardoned. Trump would claim there's no evidence I have ever talked to this murderer but he's being treated so badly that I just have to pardon him. A signal pardon if you will.

Expect Trump to push the pardon power really quick to see if the public will bother to protest. And I bet his buddy Putin will even suggest this.

The double standard is real, and we've seen it in practice throughout the presidential campaign and now with this pardon. Trumpers completely shatter norms and their fans and the news media (virtually all of it now) shrugs. Democrats do something much lower on the scale, and it is one of the most outrageous and/or ghastly things ever done. Watching the reaction to this pardon would be almost comical if we all didn't know what was coming down the pike next month. It will make what Biden just did seem utterly trivial by comparison, and we all know it.

Is that ALL you have? Russia? I'll give you a little background on me. I'm a 24-year retired Navy Sailor. I've held a TS/SCI clearance for almost 20 of those years. I've done some of the coolest shit that I can never talk about. If I had knowingly taken sensitive, HIGHLY classified information and then defied a lawful subpoena to return it, I'd already be in Leavenworth making little rocks out of big rocks. The ONLY reason he wasn't tried was that a judge HE nominated to the bench bought the stupid argument that the special counsel was illegally appointed. If that's true, Hunter's case should also be dismissed for the same reason. Your orange savior has done more and been convicted of more crap than you can ever hope to pin on Biden. I'm a big boy, and I do not doubt that Russia influenced the electorate. I don't think it rose to the level of collusion, but they wanted Trump to win.

Was there any doubt it bypassed the normal process? Trump bypassed the normal process at least a dozen times. I don't recall whether Obama did, but W commuted Scooter Libby outside the normal process. I don't remember exactly about Marc Rich, but I think he was pardoned outside the process.

Pardons sometimes bypass the process. Obviously this one did.
