Biorhythms for ACCT UNC v Clemson: 9:30 Start

This was a game we should have won. With Welling, Clemson was not playing very well, at all, here of late, by the eye test, by wins and loses, and by the metrics. So fucking disappointing that once again we come out flat and not fully engaged until the game is (all but) out of reach, fight back, and ultimately fall short.
What part of that triggered the move in their favor before game time?

Yes, but literally everybody on our side made plays that lost us the game. Now some did a lot more to win it than lose it but Veesaar had multiple turnovers, Trimble had that dumb foul at the end of the first half and the two of them cost us a shot at the end of the half. I thought even when we were really down that our main problem was we couldn't shoot. I wonder our much our numbers went up in the last 5 minutes. I was disappointed by the loss but if youshhoot like hell, you get bad results.

Those players also made positive plays to varying degrees

You can't have 20 mins of absolutely nothing from the guard spot and expect to win in March

Not sure about roster match-ups, but on the surface this seems like it would be a favorable draw for us to make it to the 2nd weekend. If we can shoot, that is.

A six is preferable to a seven seed since it brings a second game match-up with a three rather and a two. The likely twos are Iowa State, UConn, Michigan State, and Houston. Threes are Illinois, Alabama, Nebraska, and Gonzaga.

Jaydon Young 12 mins: 0-3, 0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 asts, 0 blks, 0 stls, 1 foul

Kyan Evans 6 mins: 0-1, 0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 asts, 0 blks, 0 stls, 1 foul, 1 turnover
That’s pretty much what we’ve gotten out of Evans all season, except for the minutes, which started out much higher.

Yes, this pattern is disturbing.

No clue, I don't really follow, nor understand the inner working of betting lines. Maybe odds makers have lost all confidence in HD getting the team ready to play away from home? Honestly, no clue. Do you think Clemson has more talent than us? Is a better team than us?

I can say that their T-rank was 68 this past month, their KenPom rating is 36, they're 5-4 in this past month, they're a projected 8 seed, etc. Those numbers include Welling.

We should have won this game. Period. We came out unmotivated, seemingly uninterested to be there, listless (as Rob described us). That should not happen.

I don’t think anyone knows other than the obvious “Vegas needed to get more bets on the Heels” explanation.
I did a pretty good look in search of any clues and the best thing that I came up with was vague, perhaps even imagined by me, intimations that clemson would slow the game and play it brutishly and that we'd have no answer for that. I can't pull up any attribution whatsoever.

Yeah, for the second season in a row the ceiling of UNC was severely capped by recruiting misses

Can't afford to allocate top $ and roster spots to players who can barely crack the rotation
I don't think this is entirely true. Last year we definitely had major roster issues.

But I think Hubert put together a really good team this year with the exception of Evans. Luka has been a bit of a disappointment, but he has contributed. Evans has just done nothing.

JP and Stevenson have largely done what we hoped they would do. Dixon has been a huge bonus. Henri - way better than advertised. Caleb - generational talent. Nobody thought Jayden would do much this year. Seth has been more inconsistent than I thought he would be from an energy/ effort/ defensive standpoint, but really everyone else has met or exceeded expectations. Without injuries we're a top 12 team, is that good enough? I guess that is debatable.

One of those roster issues was having nobody at the 4. Tyson was supposed to play a lot of those mins

Obviously he wasn't the only issue with that roster

Pretty big exception. Had Dixon not been able to step into a larger role than he should have as a freshman it would have been ugly

When your backup PG becomes your starting PG is why you're playing Jaydon Young in the first place

The roster was better/more balanced than the season prior. They just whiffed on the position that could afford it least

Had we landed Nick Boyd, our first target, we'd have been very very difficult to deal with (well with a truly healthy team that is). He's been really good at UW.

And I spent what feels like all 18 minutes these two were on the floor asking myself “wtf are they doing out there?” and “get them out of the game!”. Alas . . .

Didn't watch the game, but noticed Luke had a quiet game. I'm suspecting teams are giving him more defensive emphasis to get him off his spots. Two bad games, two losses.

He didn't have more than 1-2 clean looks all night

Also left his feet with no one to pass to, throwing the ball straight out of bounds, again
