Biorhythms for First Round NCAAT Game vs VCU: 6:50 Start

LOL speaking of selectively choosing what to believe ...in back to back posts no less. Bravo!
I didn't selectively choose anything. I read the fucking paper. The poster who posted it obviously did not.

Look, it is objectively true that "momentum" does not exist in basketball in any strong sense. To the extent it exists at all, it is marginal and shows up only over large sample sizes. That is a fact.

Another fact: coaches do not determine players FT abilities.

Again, the roster construction has been a problem all year. If you want to get on HD for that, fine. If you want to get on HD for the lack of bench, fine. But HD did not lose this game in the way people have been saying. The players played poorly.

The truth is Terrence Hill Jr. can get his shot vs anybody. Stevenson being on him wasn't any worse than anybody else being on him

Whatever. The article is still completely uninformative and irrelevant. It has no thesis, analyzes no data, and sets forth no hypotheses.
It’s a review paper, probably an invited review, in a special topics issue of the journal.
There is clearly an effect of psychology on human performance in high stress/competitive situations. I think it’s wrongheaded to dismiss that. I mean, dealing with those issues is largely what coaching is about.

You're probably not going to like hearing this, but momentum doesn't actually exist in the way you suggest.
Momentum also doesn't affect long shots, short shots, layups and free throws. It also doesn't affect turnovers, defensive effort and bad passes that much. Yes, I'm totally disgusted by the outcome but that's only because , after it looked like our coaches had sat in on all the VCU meetings, we crapped the bed. One less turnover or one more made shot and we wouldn't be in this state.

Fwiw, if I was coach, had a 19 point lead less that 10 minutes to go and another game in two days, I'd have slowed the game down as well.

The other three people on the court made some unforced errors as well but, in context, not going there after our TEAM meltdown.
