But that was an inefficient shooting effort — 3-11 3FG (1-6 in the first half), 1-2 FT. He improved dramatically in the second half when he started looking for drive opportunities … I am hoping he learns from that.

Always seemed to me that everybody but RJ last year shot like they were never quite sure it was their turn. Made for enough of a slight hesitancy in the offense to slow down our shooting and movement. This year people are doing a whole lot more catch and shoot when they have a good shot. I think it just leads to more fluidity in our offense.

Yes. The offense was generating a lot of open looks. They just weren't falling, including the free throws.
 
Just musing out loud:

I think part of Chu’s plan was to foul relentlessly in hopes it would not be called (or so many fouls would be made they'd be impossible to call them all -- a trumpian flood the zone with grabs, and trips, and holds) - a la Rat/Knight defenses - but these refs did call it (Chu is no hall of famer after all). Then with Carolina struggling so from the line he went with it anyway. If UNC had shot the 74% from the line as normal (that's what we brought into the game) then we’d gave 7 more points from the line and won by 22. Plus first half FT shooting was even worse than second half which actually brought our % UP (we were 14-24 for 58% in the first half) to 63%. Wilson, Veesaar, & Bogavac were all off at the line plus Stevenson was better than usual.

Now that's been seen...people will hack us until we prove better at the line - team is presently at 68% - need to be at least 74%.

I know he’s 6’6” and Seth is only 6’3”, but Powell (from a distance, watching on TV) looks a lot like Trimble with the little goatee and the hair… and similar complexion. There were times last night I thought “thats Trimble, I thought he was injured!”
Is it just me, or does anyone else see the resemblance from afar?

Didn't he miss the first 5? so, once he found his stroke he was 50%
 
Oh for sure I am stilling trying figure WTH some of these guys as are they rotate in and out

Organized free throws practice doesn’t usually translate to making them in game action. Plus they have a lot of other things to work on.
 
I have to admit I don't understand why D1 basketball players don't shoot 70% at the FT line. Yea I get it when the game is on the line and they are tired etc
But damn
