Biorhythms for U of L @UNC: 7 pm Start

Way back when……

In 1977 or 1976 or 1975, the GREAT Walter “Sweet D” Davis was in a shooting slump.

Coach Guthridge suggested that Walter stay after practice until he made 77 jumpers (or 75 or 76, depending on the year).

I suggest that each member of the team stay and make 26 FT’s above-and-beyond any FT shooting drill planned.

26 in a row?

It's in their head. Does anyone seriously not think this is a topic? Hopefully percentages balance somewhat.

As others have already said, great win over a legit Top 20/25 opponent. 22-6 certainly ain't bad either given that our best player is still out and possibly our second-best or most important player has also missed several games recently. Hopefully we can build on this game moving forward (and yeah, definitely practice more on free throws).

It’s in some players’ heads. A Matt Doherty or Pat Sullivan in a critical moment at the FT line. In their heads.

James Worthy in 1982 after Georgetown’s Fred Brown threw him the ball? James missed two FT’s. James was a mediocre FT shooter (65.2% college career; 67.4% in ‘82

Our best player is out.

Our 2nd best player was out.

Our best guard and 3rd best player was out for 6 weeks.

Very big win. Showed really good fight.

These guys need to be visualizing made FTs in their waking moments and their sleeping ones.
It’s a Zen thing.
Be the ball.
Visualization.
See the ball go through the net.
Just before releasing the shot, Visualize the ball going through the net.

Definitely a mental thing.
Like throwing strikes as a pitcher.
See the ball popping right in the middle of that catchers mitt… before you start your wind up.

It works

Might be time to give Dr. Fieldstone a call.

Great win with a very depleted team. Likley secures a reasonable seed to work with in the postseason and that is all anyone can ask for until (if) we get back to full strength.

We do need to shoot about a thousand free throws daily though and NOBODY should be able to leave the court without hitting some preset number of consecutive ones every day.

Trying to remember - we don’t consistently huddle at the line anymore do we?

Did officiating put an end to that?

A huddle at FT line before FTs is not prohibited, but can draw a delay of game warning (ref’s discretion). Second and any subsequent violations called would be a technical foul.

I am downright giddy about that win from last night this morning. We had every reason in the world to lose that game, especially after Louisville had that hot start and put us down double digits early. Obviously don’t want to count chickens before they hatch, but these next two games at home are against teams we should beat. Virginia Tech will be playing for their tournament lives and they always seem to play us tough but I trust a primetime Saturday Smith Center crowd to pull the Heels through. And Clemson is so offensively challenged and in such a complete tailspin right now – and we ain’t losing on Seth Trimble senior night.

Let’s win those two, get caleb Wilson back against Duke, and roll the dice. I’m not going to lie, I am jonesing hard for a matchup against NC State in Charlotte. I want blood from those mothereffers
