Long Time Fans can reflect back on times when state sat above dook in the hate hierarchy. After all, “Wake if Fake, and dook is puke, but the team I hate is nc state,” was a popular bumper sticker once. Roy Williams never stopped feeling that way. Some of the rest of us also have strong recollections in that direction. Wolpfacker coach Will Wade has done his best to dredge up those sentiments and no doubt that fan base finds him endearing for it. He seems mostly to be a bag of hot air from outside of Raleighwood though. I grew up in a place and time where state college fans far outnumbered the Carolina faithful – the wuffies fielded some great squads in those days. This year The Tar Heels and the wolpfack meet but a single time in the Lenovo Center (I miss that low-slung barn on the red brick campus). The loss of the home-and-away invigorates the occasion since there is no revenge factor on the line. The injury to Caleb Wilson and the “questionable” status of Henri Veesaar add to the travesty nature of this match-up. Nevertheless the RED will be Out tonight over on Edwards Mill Road and the audience will undoubtedly prove itself deserving of Will Wade and he of them.

Frontcourt: Should Veesaar play he is among the brilliant. Stevenson has good arcs across the board. High is also a Thinker. Holbrook(?) has good arcs.

Wings: Bogavac is Fire while Jonathan Powell has some of the best looks on the team.

Guards: Trimble is, again, Newtonian while Derek Dixon continues his slow climb from the depths. Kyan Evans is physical and motivated. Jaydon Young is athletic.

Overall: State brought in a star from Texas Tech in Darrion Williams (#1, 6-6, Sr. 14.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 3apg, 40% 3pt) to lead the team. He is joined by the guard tandem of Soph Paul McNeil (#2, 6-5, 13.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 43% 3pt) and #11 Quadir Copeland (6-6 Sr, 13.8ppg, 3.5rpg, 6.8apg, 42% 3pt). Quisling Ven Allen Lubin holds down the post duties (#22, 13.7ppg, 7.1rpg, 68% from two) and on the wing is Senior Tre Holloman (6-2, 10ppg, 41% 3pt). Benchmen include Perhaps the oldest player in college basketball in Alyn Breed (#7, 6-3, 4.8ppg, 36% 3pt – he’s 24) and the youngest in #3 Matt Able (6-5 8.5ppg, 35% 3pt). Bigs are represented by 6-9 Jerry Deng (#15, 6.1ppg, 2.1rpg) and #13 6-10 Musa Sagnia (A 23 year old freshman and former Euro-Pro from Gambia – 2.8ppg, 3.1rpg). Rounding out the bench is Terrance Arceneaux (6-6 Sr, 4ppg, 36% 3pt). The Wolpfack sits atop Carolina in 5th place with an ACC record of 9-4 and an overall of 18-8. But history requires that records and even individual statistics “might oughta” be tossed aside for this one as enough history remains among what were once known as The Big Four of Tobacco Road that the animus tends to rule. And so it shall.

Gamblers have state pegged the likely winner by a margin of 6.5 points. Biorhythms sees a nigh on brilliant Carolina team with physical challenges. Veesaar is Questionable and likely a game-time decision. Without him the hill to climb is a steep one. State is offensive (ly) minded and their offense is high-powered and spread out across Williams, Copeland, McNeil, Lubin, and Holloman. They are smallish and do not rebound particularly well. They shoot Three-Pointers often and their accuracy ranks them Top-Ten nationally and they lead the ACC. Ten players average 14 minutes per game or better so they stay fresh so as to run. Carolina will need Step-Ups by the unlikely once again – Jarin Stevenson and Jaydon Young are native born Tar Heels and they’ve lived with wolpfack fans their entire lives. They are poised to fire up their teammates on this one. Seth Trimble and Zayden High have been around long enough to know what to expect in Raleigh as well. Hostility is the word of the day. All of that said – with Veesaar Carolina takes this one by 2. Without him Las Vegas looks on the mark.

Totally negative waves coming from me on this one, Moriarty.
The Gamblers get it right.
The Rednecks win this one hitting a high volume of 3’s.
Hope I’m wrong, I will be pleasantly surprised if I am, but I expect the worst.

Win or lose this game and they'll still be State fans. Bad cess to them and their unknown ancestors.

If State is hot then I’m afraid we just don’t have the firepower on either end of the court to keep up without Veesaar and Wilson. They also lost at home to a bad GT team that was missing a starter, so I’m not ready to just wave the white flag yet either.

There are no words suitable for print that could adequately describe how motherfricking much I absolutely, positively, unequivocally loathe NC State with every fiber of my being. Eff every single man, woman, and child associated with that institution's athletics programs.

State isn’t big so no Veesaar isn’t the end of the world

Have to force Williams into tough shots and not let the others get hot

VAL will get his in the post but can’t be allowing a bunch of wide open cuts and rolls

Interested to see how guys like Dixon/Boga respond to the environment. The rest know what to expect

I really hope Veesaar can play. State doesn't have anyone that could stop him down low. Not sure if they win without him tonight.

Meanwhile, Hubert said Wilson is learning to play with the cast and should return "soon."

As I recall kendall Marshall and Kenny Smith played with a cast

Against the Wolfpack usually there are visions of a blowout dancing in my head. Due to injuries, we don’t have the firepower for that today.

This is one where you need to let NC State do the work for you. The job is to show up and let them hand you the W.

FWIW...Carolina is damn smart tonight albeit not physical at all save for mild arcs for Stevenson, Powell, Young, and Evans. But look at all those Intel = 100s up there.

I challenge you to hate ncst more than I do...

I hate dook** but I respect dook**
I have no respect for ncst

The only time I don't hope dook** loses a game is when they play ncst.

dook** sports fans are obnoxious, but ncst sports fans are scum.

Kenny yes. Kendall, I really don't think so. [And just checked the box scores of the Ohio and Kansas games where he did not appear]. We started Stilman White in both.

Same here! I'm with you. I would even go as far as to say that when juxtaposed specifically to how much I hate NC State, by comparison I *like* Duke. Tons of respect for them, in fact. I have absolutely, positively no respect whatsoever for NC State- just derision, disdain, and disgust.

By the way, have we heard definitively yet as to whether or not Henri will play tonight, or is it truly going to be a "find out at tipoff" kind of thing?
