Biorhythms for UNC @state college: 7 pm Start

I'd be more precise if I had more information. I heard a rumor that after Lubin committed to staying, Washington decided to leave. Once Washington left, Lubin tried to leverage a better deal. I have no facts about the truth of anything including the timing of Washington's decision to leave or Lubin's decision to stay. It might all be bunkum but it might also be part of why Washington left and Lubin changed his mind. It's mostly just curiosity on my part.
Remember when the main worry for UNC fans was whether a UNC player was going to leave after their junior year to go to the NBA ?

Good times...

you funny :D

It's not like he would sit on the bench until Caleb and Henri got injured. He still could get the same minutes as he is getting at ncst. I think the question is whether ncst was willing to pay him more than we were. My guess is ncst had deeper pockets.
VAL is getting just shy of 28 minutes a game at NCST. Between the C & PF positions at Carolina, there were only a little under 18 non-Caleb & Veesaar minutes available per game before they got injured.

Help me understand how 28 = 18.

The rumors at the time Lubin left was that State indeed paid him a bit more, but that they also offered him the starting role he wouldn't have at Carolina.

I'm sure something like that happened once State jumped in with a higher offer for Lubin.

I think Washington left because he saw there wasn't a path to very much playing time having been passed over as a starter by Lubin and with Caleb & Veesaar coming in.

Think we could have swapped them even up? I'd have gone for it.

Fwiw, is there any truth to what I've heard that Lubin decided ,after Jalen Washington left when Lubin stayed, that he was worth more in terms of money and time than he had agreed to? I didn't hear specifics but, if true, puts a little different spin on a lot of things like why Washington left and why Lubin went elsewhere. I guarantee that if he did the bait and switch thing, he would have been better off leaving.
Yeah there were a lot of moving parts with Washington and Lubin but at the end of the day I think both of them just wanted a bigger role than what they knew they would get here behind Wilson and Veesaar. Not much you can do about that, although it would have been nice to find another competent big in the portal willing to fill the backup role.

Not to pick an old scab or sound like a pearl clutcher but I hate that High is on the team for non basketball reasons. If the sexual assault allegations against him were credible enough to warrant a suspension then I think we should have just kicked him off the team altogether. As an alum I’m embarrassed that he’s still representing the university.

If Wilson and Veesaar aren’t hurt and the Heels roll lolstate, are we discussing Lubin? Wilson and Veesaar play Tuesday night, Lubin isn’t get 14 and 7 or whatever it is that he got.

Lubin made a good decision in terms of playing time

valid point in your what if hypothetical about Caleb and Henri.

But what if you decided to move Caleb to SF and put Lubin at PF ? Then if Caleb is injured Stevenson can replace him

Yep. Initially it was worrying about players leaving for the NBA after their junior year. Then Stack and Sheed left after their sophomore year, and we were like, “Oh wow. Now we have to worry about players leaving after two years.” Then we started worrying about players being OAD. But then we wanted more players to be OAD because it would help us land more top recruits.

Now you don’t necessarily expect anybody to stick around for more than a year.

Not sure how a lineup of Veesaar, Lubin & Wilson would work. Imagine it would feel like 3 bigs and the lane would get clogged. Wilson hasn’t shown a big desire/been asked to play on the perimeter (despite the need for that at the next level). So now we lose a 3 point threat, well a threat when they are hitting them 😉 Not sure if we’ve played Veesaar, Wilson & Stevenson together. Stevenson is more of a wing despite his height. Lubin would be more of a replacement for High but then we are back with playing time possibly being an issue. Apologies if I am misunderstanding your point 😀

Stevenson and Dixon have split time starting with Caleb and Henri. Caleb was shooting 26% from the 3 and Lubin is shooting 27% . Stevenson is shooting 29% and Dixon is shooting 35% so we don't lose a great 3 point threat. In my opinion Caleb is a stretch 4 and could be amazing at the SF

I haven't paid close attention to the defensive skills of Stevenson and Dixon, but I'm guessing Caleb could do as well guarding a SF opponent.

Yet through all that, where nobody has much clue what the entire roster will look like next season — many fans demand “cOnsIsTeNCY!!” from game to game and season to season. They will not tolerate less! Because standards!

Just one thought. Don’t see Dixon in the conversation as he’s the PG and is subbed out with Evans. Unless I am missing something which is highly likely 😀

Check out the Sy, GT, UVA, and ND games

Starting lineup included Dixon and Young... so the smaller Young at 6'4" was playing the 3 spot instead of Dixon... so my bad :)

That being the case I would still prefer Caleb at the 3 spot over Young ( shooting 30% ) and Stevenson.

So it was Dixon, Trimble and Young with Wilson and Veesaar down low. Yeah, thinking that lineup while it was present in 4 games was maybe an anomaly 🤔 Not starting but do like Dixon, Trimble, Powell, Wilson and Veesaar. Powell is a wing but will mix it up inside and can hit from 3 though maybe streaky (like everyone on the team 😀).
