Iirc, under similar expectations, Jordan got off to a bit of a slow start in 83. My perception at the time was that the first 3-4 games were sluggish, with not bad numbers but struggling to get there. That worked out okay.

We were all struggling a bit at first. I thought the game stoppages for the time clock to give them time to get into their halfcourt defense really got us out of our flow and led to the size of the deficit. I was really glad that the team found themselves and cut it before the half. I expect it helped them listen better at the half.

Look-In: The American Eagles are 1-2 with losses to Lasalle and Siena and a victory over Harvard. They play a pace that, while not as mind-numbingly and dishearteningly snailish as the Bennett-era Cavaliers, is one of the slowest in college basketball. That will be the test for Carolina tonight – overcome the slowdown. As for players…Number one on the chart is #15, 6-9 Matt Rogers. An inside-out threat, Rogers is averaging 13 ppg and coming off of a 26 point game vs the Saints. Also of interest is true senior and ball-handler, 5-9 (#1) Elijah Stephens (10 ppg, 5 apg). Forward Matt Mayock and guard Geoff Sprouse are bombers. Indeed the Eagles are Trey-Fixated averaging 23 shots from long distance per game (they hoisted 31 vs Lasalle). They are hitting at a 28% clip from beyond so far. Colin Smalls is scoring at 12 ppg and shoots over 90% from the line. Duane Simpkins (a one-time Terrapin and assistant to Wes Miller at UNCG) is the coach.

Frontcourt: Washington has the arcs to play well tonight – being especially athletic while Withers looks a bit weathered and biorhythmically down. Strongman Lubin has solid Physical and Emotional arcs but is high intellectually. Ty Claude has seen little actions but looks primed to have a memorable night. Freshman James Brown is downright cerebral.

Wings: Not a high-flying look for Ian Jackson nor Drake Powell though the latter young man is nigh onto Mensa level in intellect. Cade Tyson is also smart and motivated though down physically.

Guards: Cadeau looks middlin’ at best with a flat physical while Seth Trimble brings good ‘want-to’ and plenty of brains to the court. R.J. looks to slip out of his recent doldrums. Watch for it.

Overall: American will try to limit the times up and down the court and Carolina will attempt to run them out of the Dome. Key will be defense and rebounding for the Tar Heels. Pressure the Eagles into turnovers in the mid-court and quick bad and long-rebounding shots and it will be off-to-the-races for the Heels. Carolina has a great deal more talent than American and must avoid the trap they fell into versus a similarly overmatched Elon. Not playing down to the opponent but rather obliterating them from the get-go has to be the rule or this will not be an entertaining night but rather a frustrating, scream-at-the-screen one. R.J. Davis’ high arcs point to a liberating outing for the Graduate Student and Trimble ought to find the seam and bring at least a couple of high-flying slams. Watch for something along those lines from a wiley Drake Powell as well. Lubin looks like he’s also going to do some yeomen boardwork and if Ty Claude gets the minutes we’ll see why the Goldsboro Grad was picked up late in the recruiting process. Watch for some stellar play from Mr. Washington.

This ought to be a good evening for the Heels and plenty should play. Pressure might dictate a deep bench…we hope. Carolina by 22.

We need RJ to find his shooting rhythm, which has been well off for three games going back tot he sweet Sixteen loss to Alabama last season.

RJ was 0-9 for 3, 4-20 overall against Alabama, and this season has been 3-11 for three against Elon (7-19 overall) & 1-7 for three (3-15 overall) against Kansas.

So in his last three games, he is 4-27 for three, 14-54 overall.

Hopefully his low emotion arc doesn’t undercut his other strong arcs tonight and he can rediscover his mojo.

Good call pretty much all around…. Except Cadeau… and you missed it by 30! 😎👍

Just bustin yo chops. I loved it. I’ll check in with your ritmos each game. I like the narrative too. Keep it up!

No insult felt - as I wrote, I do this for fun. Some folks look forward to them. I especially like knowing something about our foes and tracking our players closely.

Preesh your reads.

So what be da ritmos like for Friday's game? Yes, I know it will be early Sat. morning here... but it will be late afternoon/early Friday evening where they will play, so the ritmos readings need to be for that specific date. Correct?

Davis #4 P = 10, E = 95, I = 40, X = 25
Trimble #7 P = 95, E = 10, I = 35, X = 65
Withers #24 P = 25, E = 70, I = 0, X = 15
Washington #13 P = 30, E = 0, I = 0, X = 15
Tyson #5 P = 50, E = 15, I = 30, X = 40
Jackson #11 P = 40, E = 20, I = 5, X = 20
Powell #9 P = 50, E = 40, I = 35, X = 40
Lubin #22 P = 5, E = 0, I = 25, X = 15
Claude #0 P = 80, E = 80, I = 100, X = 90
Brown #2 P = 50, E = 70, I = 55, X = 50

Coach Davis Wisdom = 80

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
14 Harry Rouhliadeff P = 10, E = 70, E = 35, X = 20
32 Tanner Christensen P = 55, E = 70, I = 75, X = 65
2 Tom Beattie P = 50, E = 30, I = 100, X = 75
0 Kody Williams P = 85, E = 50, I = 55, X = 70
4 Marcus Greene P = 40, E = 50, I = 30, X = 35
5 Gytis Nameiska P = 90, E = 85, I = 25, X = 60
20 Jerome Palm N/A
30 Aaron Hunkin-Claytor N/A
22 Ryan Rapp N/A

Coach Eran Gunot Wisdom = 60

Look-In: It is United Nations Day in Oahu for the Tar Heels as they face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors with 9 foreign players on their 15 man roster (Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Lithuania, and Japan). And these are tough, tall foreigners who are 4-0 with wins over Life Pacific (?), San Jose State, Pacific, and Weber State (grrrr IYKYK). Legit modern center Tanner Christensen (6-10, #32, Utah State) leads Hawaii with 17 ppg and 7 rpg and is followed by Sophmore Kiwi Tom Beattie (6-5, #2) who scores at 12 ppg. Frontliner Harry Rouhliadeff (#14, 6-9, AUS) is plays a Euro-Game and scores 7.5. The heart of the squad is point man Kody Williams (#0, 6-0) who walked on (all the way from Minnetonka, MN) to become a scholarship player and starter (9 ppg, 3 apg). Backcourt mate Marcus Greene (#4, 6-2, 10 ppg, 3apg) rolled in from California (This is his 4th school in as many years). Best bench man is Gytis Nameiska (#5, 6-8, 11 ppg 7 rpg, Lithuania, Xavier). Aussie born Coach Gunot (he played at Swarthmore) has won 163 games so far in his 11 (on-going) seasons at HU and is coming off back-to-back 20 wins campaigns. They defend the Trey well (but don’t shoot it so good) – indeed, defense is the key to their success. They average (so far) over 80 points per game so they aren’t a “let the air out of the ball” type of squad but expect them to work to control pace versus Carolina in this after-midnight tilt. They are the Big West Conference favorites this year and have HIGH hopes to make the NCAA.

Frontline: Low marks for Washington and Luben and good arcs for Claude and Brown.

Wings: Powell and Tyson have solid physicals while Jackson is all below the fold.

Guards: Lots of ‘want-to’ from R.J. Davis and a soaring physical for Trimble. Cadeau is in the upper arc area athletically though bottomed out with intel.

Overall: The Tar Heels have taken a great swing biorhythmically from a week ago when they were chart toppers. At present they are struggling to rise above the 50% mark. That heralds a great possibility of either/or some sloppy play or step-ups from some young men making the most of court time and their own circadian rhythms (separate from said Biorthymic Ones). We’ll find out who the night owls are tonight…both among the Tar Heel Faithful and the young men wearing the Carolina Blue. Coach Davis has an elevated Wisdom Score, boding well for the chess game that coaches often are called upon to play. Las Vegas calls for Carlina by 15.5. Ritmos make it closer – say 11.

Catch a nap – set your alarm. Hope the Heels don’t need a wake-up call.
