I know many on here are upset for our latest election results like about half the country after every election in our history. WTBS he did win the electoral and popular vote, not as big as he says but a win. So in the opinion of Zigs did Trump get elected because of a desire for him and his policies or was it because of a rejection of Harris and her policies?

Yes.

I also think she, as a person, wasn't any more appealing now than in 2020.

I also think her coronation as a candidate played a factor, along with her sex and the perception that Dems hid Biden's deteriorating mental state.

I mostly blame the media. Instead of the journalism we had coming out of WWII, we reverted to an "If it bleeds, it leads" style where attracting users rather than informing the public. Trump's campaign was exciting and no one made him own his lies.
Hasn't the media been fervently calling out Trump's lies for over 8 years?

I agree the media shares much of the blame. I think they have failed on all sides, although the Left continues the narrative that only Fox and their ilk are to blame. CNN/MSNBC are opposite sides of the same failure coin.

Not seriously. They've sane washed at least half the things he's said.

That's only part of the problem. They did little or nothing to inform people on the true state of the country. What do you actually think you'd find if you looked at the immigration numbers over the last 15 years? Do you actually think they are greatly different and that there is truly a border crisis? It's as if the media has some sort of truth fatigue where it's easier to buy the lies and equivocation than to fight against the right wing agitprop.

What I think is that Trump has been lying since 2015 and, despite that, voters rejected him handily 2020. That being the case, it's difficult for me to attribute the Democrat loss to only Trump's lying.

How do you get only out of my claim of mostly? At least try not to be so obviously deceptive. I allow for it but there could possibly be an innocent here who doesn't know your shtick.

He won my area due to inflation. You could link some charts that say otherwise but everything has risen in cost with groceries being the thing I hear people gripe about all the time. Cars, houses, utilities, rent etc.. all rose but groceries were a stark reminder every week that inflation was real.

Our investments are doing awesome but most people don't have that or pay attention to it; they look at weekly expenditures. Throw in his opponent was a women and a black women at that plus most of America loves gossip/confrontation which Trump brings and this was a simple election to predict.

The only thing mentioned was lying, so I took it as an "only".

Like voters all across the world, US voters voted out the administration in control during the COVID recovery. There are plenty of other factors around the margins - things Trump did right and Harris did wrong - but that seems to be the overriding trend, IMO.
True. Which is why it’s also worth noting the policies/strategies of liberals and leftists who remained in power after the recovery. The only example I can think of right off is Morena in Mexico with AMLO -> Sheinbaum.

It's the economy, stupid.

All of the other stuff is just background noise. The American public was not happy that their dollar didn't go as far as it used to, so they needed to punish the administration in charge, even if it meant letting a psychopath back into the oval office. And Kamala just didn't have the time needed to separate herself from the current administration in any meaningful way in the minds of the voters. And truth be told, if she'd had the proper amount of time to separate herself from Biden, would she have? I'm not sure. She was awfully loyal to him on the campaign trail.
