Went to the doctor Monday and my BP was 162/100. Obviously alarming. I was already on Valsartan so he added 5.0 mg of amlodipine. Already in 3 days it has gone down to 118/83. I just wonder what caused it to go up so high all of a sudden. My wife seems to think it was the Stromboli I ate Sunday. 😆

Have you ruled out the wife? I find it suspicious she’s trying to blame the Stromboli.

Have you started any new meds or allergy pills . . . those can create an increase, usually the culprits in my case are salt and alcohol intake.

What’s the highest everyone here’s Bp has been?
198/110 after emergency gall bladder surgery. I had an IV of some sort of BP meds just to get it down to 165/98. I had never had high blood pressure recorded prior.

It is usually around 115-125/70-80 now, BTW. But it took about six months to get it under control after that spike. Doctors were baffled.

everyone's blood pressure has gone up to 200 systolic at some point in the life briefly when they jumped in a frozen lake or a cold stream. I tell patients your blood pressure always goes up and down for innumerable reasons, the only time it stays one number is when its zero. that helps keep them from being too alarmed about a single reading

Mine has been like 170 / 80. It's been okay at the doctor recently. Bottom number has never been troubling.

It's genetic. My sister had times where her systolic has been 210 and they had to give her emergency meds. She died of a stroke at 57 a couple of years ago. Alcohol abuse played a key role, I hope.

160/110 just a few weeks ago.

Since then, I’ve really cranked up the volume of fruits and vegetables and cut down on prepared foods.

Just a few minutes ago, it was 131/88
