I am looking at buying a couple of vehicles in the next few months. I was hoping to get feedback on these brands/models. One will be for work and the other is for my wife. Feel free to throw out any other recommendations. We are going to the Charlotte Auto Show next week to check these out with out getting hassled by salesmen.

Trucks- need a regular cab 8' bed
Ram 1500
Silverado 1500

SUV
Subaru Ascent
Mazda CX 90
Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Honda Pilot

Never thought I'd have done it since I've always been Chevy with my trucks, but two years ago I went with a goat and gotta say I've been pleased. Of course I went work truck - standard cab, long bed, 4x4, v8 Hemi, white. Love it.

My wife is in the market for an SUV soon and I think she’s down to either Honda Pilot or Kia Telluride. Marking this thread to see the replies.

I’ve got the Highlander hybrid and like it a lot. It is fairly big and wide, so it takes a minute to get used to parking, but overall it’s a very good vehicle. Would recommend!

I think we are leaning Highlander Hybrid but they are getting costly. Looking at $47 to $50K. That's a lot for us but we will keep it long term

Don't know much about this but my son was shopping for a family car. After investigation, he thought that we were close enough to a technological advance that he didn't want to make a long term commitment right now. That may be bogus although he's a tech geek and you might not have the luxury of waiting but it might be worth checking into.

Trump Motors?

One interesting thing to watch with Trump 2.0 will be how he handles the electric cars issue. He's always been on record as opposing a mass switch to electric vehicles, has said so many times in his campaign rallies, and that's because a good deal of his base doesn't want them. OTOH, he's now buddies with Elon Musk, who I'm sure will tell him that electric cars are the coming thing he needs to get on board. The direction Dear Leader chooses to go in will be interesting to watch.

According to both of my mechanics, who I have known for 33 years and over 15 years, Chevy trucks are the least expensive to repair.

You can't go wrong with Toyota or Honda as far as reliability and quality goes. I'm past due for a new car. I'm currently driving a Lexus (Toyota )IS 250 with over 300,000 miles on it, But I just can't bring myself to get rid of it. Obviously I've had to replace a number of parts, but it just doesn't seem to want to die.

I think Elon is more concerned with keeping Chinese electric cars out than mandating a switch to electric cars.

To treat depression I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid last Wednesday. Lots of bells and whistles, AWD, 35 mpg, 3 rows of seats. Some unusual color options (my wife chose terracotta orange, and I'll admit I like it). I've driven every other SUV on your list and only the Toyota Highlander comes close.

911 is the only answer

Seems like once upon a time car/truck brands were like teams. A man and his family were either Ford or Chevrolet. My Deddy was a Ford subset guy, only ever driving a Mercury sedan and a Ford truck. His brother though was strictly a Chevrolet guy. I remember lots of banter about such things once upon a time.

Most people in general don't want them
