Carolina Hurricanes owner buys Portland Trail Blazers

I’m a Kraken fan by virtue of living there when the team was founded. Went to the Canes-Kraken game this year wearing a Kraken jersey with very low expectations and had a pretty annoying time getting pestered by a bunch of 10-13 year olds that were sitting with their parents. The whole NC Stateness of the crowd and experience just oozed out too
I feel ya there -- but I always wear carolina blue socks if I go to a canes game, and if I get any hint of state fan nonsense I just start with numbers (like Roy's record vs state, all time record, last 25 yrs, etc). Never fails to end that nonsense and pretty easy to steer it back to hockey at that point

I just think you are severely underestimating the disconnect between you as a duke fan saying you can't support a "bandwagon" team and the essence of (the vast majority) of duke fans....

In other words you're just being a jerk because I'm a Duke fan. Got it.

As I said in this very thread. I cannot control the fandom of anyone but myself.

Being a jerk?

I disagree with your basic premise (as have almost everyone else who has opined) that the Canes can even have bandwagon fans, let alone that be a large swath of them.

And I can't alos help but point out the hypocrisy of any duke fan that would say they didn't like a team b/c it has bandwagon fans!

For the record, UNC has a large boat of bandwagon fans, doesn't phase me one way or another. But UNC also is THE flagship state university for all of North Carolina, so that in itself allows for a certain level of legitimate "bandwagoners" on our train

I live in Charlotte and never met anyone who would say such a thing or acts in such a way. Not even close. And there is certainly no overlap between a Cowboys fan and a Panthers fan. None.

There may be times when Panthers fans are less excited about their team, but they’re not switching their fandom to another one. You don’t hop on a bandwagon of a team that struggles as frequently as the Panthers have.

Why in the world would I make that up?
I often ask why people do so many of the things they do.

That was Icky that called bs on your Charlotte story (or "making shit up") as you called it, not me....

But go in peace with you and your God sir

To be clear, it was intended as a little ribbing. I know that doesn’t always come across on a message board. I like @dukeman92 , despite his sports team preferences or tall tales regarding Panthers fandom.

I've never had a negative experience at Lenovo (formerly PNC) while watching a Canes game. I always wear my Tar Heel kicks too. Canes games are fun. Hockey is a great sport to see live. It's not quite a 4 hour drive to Lenovo from where I live in WNC so we only go to a couple games a season. It's also a little pricey at times. We like going to the Star Wars theme night b/c we love Canes hockey and I'm a huge Star Wars nerd. Also it doesn't matter if you've been cheering for the Canes since they were the Whalers or you just jumped on board last season. All fans are welcome. Plenty of room on the bandwagon. Give these bunch of jerks a chance. It's good fun. GO CANES!!!

Happy Stanley Cup Playoffs GIF by NHL

(also f the f'ing Panthers)
