Infamous Student Houses” for $500 anyone?

Pink House
Purple House
Zen Frisbee House?

Whatcha Got?

Spudtowne?
SCOTS House?
The Mouse Trap?

Spudtowne I know. Is the Mouse Trap where Mouse from the Cave lived? I was at his wedding. Knew him from the Cave but actually first met him when he was my youngest son's Rainbow Soccer coach.

Mouse Trap was indeed where Mouse (once) of The Cave lived...right at the entrance to Polk's Landing. Incredibly entertaining secret concerts in the barn back behind the place. (I was at that wedding too!)

Neil Diamond turns 84 today...here's the Chapel Hill connection...Jack Whitebread's campy "Neil Diamond All-Stars." Jack once had a decent voice, by this point he did not but the yearly shows had by that time become an event. Eventually he and his band, genuine all-stars, had joined up with the "Be Loud Sophie" fundraising project.

Movie made about the Pink House by Tessa Blake and Ian Williams that I don't think ever saw any kind of distribution. It starred Zack Ward who was Scut Farkus in A Christmas Story.

I recall an evening where Jack Whitebread got stabbed at OCSC but recovered sufficiently to buy a case of PBR at the Teeter before 2 a.m.

Touting Midway's attractions these days. It was pretty much a dead zone between Chapel Hill's most westerly spots of Pyewacket, The Cave, and Tijuana Fats/Henry's and The Cat's Cradle for years. About the only thing along there on Rosemary was the Taxi Company and on Franklin, Crook's Corner.

There was a good used book store on the north side of Franklin in that zone in the 80s and beyond Can't remember the name for the life of me.

Wasn't the owner shot or some such awful thing?

So where was Spudtowne located exactly? I only heard of it but I was of the belief that it was tucked in somewhere near Northampton Tower (Which may be called University Apartments these days, not sure) on Airport Road .
