There has been plenty of evidence of that fact. Multiple knowledgeable college basketball people have stated that Hubert does not have a good rep with talent, agents, and coaches.

He is a nice guy. He knows basketball. But his rep for handling elite talent is not good with the people that funnel that talent.

Now, reputations are not set in stone. Things could change. But I’m not just fabricating this.

Who are the elite talents who’ve played for UNC in the Hubert era?

Caleb Wilson - who has done well on a Hubert Davis coached team.

That’s the extent of elite talent on Hubert Davis coached teams.

Drake Powell - who played well on a Hubert Davis coached team. He’s really good; but, he wasn’t elite coming out of high school. Elite is Phil Ford, James Worthy, MJ, The Jet, Antawn Jamison, Felton, May, McCants, Tyler Hansbrough, Caleb Wilson.

Caleb Love? Armando Bacot? R.J. Davis? Elliot Cadeau? Captain Jack?

None are elite talents.

Hubert’s suffered in terms of signing elite talent. Same as Coach Williams from the beginning of the paper class “scandal” through the end of his career.

Yet, d00k, Kentucky, and Kansas were RAKING in elite talent.

What had changed?

I read ‘79’s comments about Lumbees as being they’re fine with Hubert.

I read his comment about a guy on his Facebook feed as being a white guy who either was at UNC in the mid-to-late ‘70’s or who never attended UNC; and, that guy hasn’t liked Hubert since Hubert was named as head coach; I read ‘79’s comments as this guy (and many on IC) didn’t like Hubert because, well, Hubert’s black.

No. I asked him if he knew people who don't like Coach Davis because he is Black and he brought up being from "Lumbee Land" as the response. He is saying that Lumbee UNC fans do not want a Black coach at Carolina. I don't have any idea of the accuracy of that but that's definitely what he is saying.
