I would never pull for dook** players to get injuries, but I would be curious how dook** would fare if Boozer and either Evans or Ngongba suffered late season injuries preventing them from playing for several weeksAnd for Boozer to suffer a minor injury that would sideline him for about 4 weeks.
It depends on which metrics you're looking at. They're ahead of us in the predictive metrics because they only have 1 bad loss whereas we have 2, they tend to blow teams out more than we do, they tend to lose close games, and their Strength of Schedule is 20th whereas ours is 51st.I still can’t figure out why Louisville is ranked so much higher than us in the metrics. Our wins are massively better than theirs. Is losing to Cal and SMU that big of a deal? Their best win is KY, which is like our 5th best win. They did beat a handful of over 300 rated teams by like 50 points, so I guess that matters a lot.
In comparison to us in 2023...But our record in 2023 was similar with quality wins over Ohio State, Michigan, and UVA
I don't keep up with the metrics. Despite their record two quality wins, I'm guessing they have some quality losses and have been good playing possession to possession in their games ?
Yeah, I just can't hope that folks get hurt.I just can't pull for a player to get hurt
I'm not "pulling for it", but if we're talking best case scenarios...I just can't pull for a player to get hurt , well no worse than than when that asshole from State viciously fouls someone's elbow with his mouth.
This is a tough one this year. Usually it’s not so tough. For years, I have pulled for Duke to lose to State. That’s because State wins vs. Duke are usually inconsequential for State, and they already lose all the time anyway. On the other hand, Duke doesn’t lose nearly as much as State, so when they do, it’s more enjoyable. I take joy in a Duke loss, but State losing is just par for the course. It’s good and all, but it’s expected and there’s nothing special about it.d00k at State on Monday.
Who ya got?
I usually root for injuries in this game, but that’s just the devil in me. And I really shouldn’t do that, it’s bad karma for my team, and it’s just “not Cricket ol boy”… but what can I say?
Also, I’d normally root for the underdog, or knocking off the top team in the ACC… which has usually been d00k (ever since the David Thompson years.)
But in this game, I guess all in all I’d rather see state lose. It always seems like if d00k loses the game just before ours, it gives them just that much more incentive coming into their “one and done” night in Cameroon.
Plus watching the peckers lose in their final home game is always fun… and it helps us in ACC seeding.
When his dad was hurt in 2001 it helped us win it all because Casey Sanders got better.I would never pull for dook** players to get injuries, but I would be curious how dook** would fare if Boozer and either Evans or Ngongba suffered late season injuries preventing them from playing for several weeks
Will Wade is the worst. This is a tough one this year. Usually it’s not so tough. For years, I have pulled for Duke to lose to State. It seems that the above should hold true this year as well, but Will Wade is such a smarmy punk. It’s impossible for me to be okay with him winning anything. He’s detestable. And it seems his players have taken on his personality. So I will get no enjoyment out of this one any way you slice it. And if helps keep state out of the NCAAT, I might have to make peace with Duke winning this one.

All of Carolina's losses are Quad 1. No bad losses except in the minds of Coach Davis's critics. It depends on which metrics you're looking at. They're ahead of us in the predictive metrics because they only have 1 bad loss whereas we have 2, they tend to blow teams out more than we do, they tend to lose close games, and their Strength of Schedule is 20th whereas ours is 51st.
But we're ahead of them in the "Resume Metrics" - 17th vs 26th in Wins Above Bubble (WAB) and 20th vs 29th in Strength of Record (SOR) - which is indicative of the fact that we've won some close games over good teams and that our record is better than theirs.
We've had our shitty injury runs. That's for sureNever want to see a player get hurt.
And it's bad form to "wish" an opponent would suffer some injuries.
But some years, like this one, when we've had 3 of our top 3 players have to lose playing time due to injuries/illnesses or both... It's not bad form to ask the basketball gods: "why us? why not them? would it be so bad if one of theirs went out of a game and had to rehab a bit and miss 5 or 6 games too?"
But that's not the way the world works and there's fuck all we can do about it.
Besides, I think it's bad karma. That shit only comes back on you and the team you root for.
The post you quoted was comparing UNC to Louisville, not NCST.All of Carolina's losses are Quad 1. No bad losses except in the minds of Coach Davis's critics.
ncsux has 3 Q2 losses and a Q4 loss!
Carolina is ahead of ncsux in the predictive metrics, too.
Carolina is 26 in the NET, ncsux is 29.
Carolina is 19 in WAB, ncsux is 34.
Carolina is ahead in
Kenpom 28, 31
barttorvik 25, 29
Team rankings 26, 28
KPI 13, 27
Carolina is one of only 11 teams in the country with 6 or more Q1 wins and 0 Q2 Q3 and Q4 losses.
Ahh, my bad. Yep.The post you quoted was comparing UNC to Louisville, not NCST.
We've had our shitty injury runs. That's for sure
And yeah I agree the karma thing is real !
